"Hey, Millie?"
"Hi Sadie, what's up?"
"Um, listen, can I talk to you?" she asked.
"Yes...?"
Sadie sat down in Millie's trailer looking around awkwardly. She took a deep breath, "ok Millie, what is it? What's going on?" Millie shook her head and opened her mouth to speak. "Look, before you try and bullshit me saying nothing's wrong, blah blah blah, don't, ok? I know you better than that. I can ignore bad moods, you being distracted all the time, I can even ignore you and Finn pretending not to be 'a thing', but there's something else, isn't there?"
Millie buried her face in her hands and started crying, she'd been on the edge all day, feeling overly emotional, and this tipped her over. "I'm sorry" said Sadie, quickly, scooting over next to her and giving her a hug, "I didn't mean to upset you."
"No...no, it's not your fault...I'm sorry, I know I've been a crappy friend recently, it's just..." and with that she broke down again, Sadie holding her, allowing her to let it all out, all the tension, and fear, and frustration. A while later, when Millie could cry no more, she lifted her head from Sadie's shoulder and looked her friend in the eye, "I'm sorry."
"Don't be stupid, whatever it is, I'll be here for you. You don't have to tell me, but maybe it would help if you did."
Sadie put no pressure on her, Millie knew and appreciated it, "thanks." She hesitated, not wanting to break down again, but needing to talk to someone, and that someone couldn't be Finn right now. She told Sadie everything, about the stalker, when it started, the messages she'd received, and how Finn had found out, although she left out the finer details of that particular night.
"Wow" was the only way Sadie could respond, shaking her head in disbelief at what had been happening to her closest friend. "Ok, two things before we talk about the stalker..." Millie nodded, wondering what they were going to be. "One, why the hell didn't you tell me? I'm your best friend!"
"I...I was scared, I didn't want anyone to know, I felt...like it was my fault or something, you guys would think I was stupid." Sadie scoffed openly at that. "Even Finn only found out by accident" Millie added.
"Yeah, that's number two, Finn...what's up with you guys?"
Despite the serious nature of their conversation, Millie started blushing uncontrollably and felt flustered, "we...um..."
"Come on Millie, I'm not blind, and despite their usual obliviousness neither are the guys."
"Ok, fine, Finn and I are...together" she blurted out.
"I knew it! Ok, details please" said Sadie, leaning forward.
Millie rolled her eyes, she hadn't really expected any less though. "Fine" she said, "we kind of got together 6 weeks ago...at the awards show...at the hotel."
Sadie eventually worked out when she meant, and went to say something but stopped herself. She thought for a minute, then, raising her eyebrows, said "wait, that's when you two disappeared for an hour...and you...and him..." At that Millie went bright red and looked away, unable to look her in the eye. "Oh my god, you didn't!?" She didn't need an answer, Millie's face said it all and Sadie just smirked. "You sly dog" she said winking.
"It doesn't matter now though, I've manage to fuck that up too" said Millie, closing her eyes and remembering their argument.
"What happened? It can't be that bad, I mean, that guy is ca-razy about you, has been for years" Sadie stated, matter-of-factly.
"I needed to talk to him about something...and he just assumed it was about this stalker crap and went off on one, he wouldn't let me get a word in, and then he made it sound like it will be all my fault if something bad happens 'cause I haven't told anyone" she ranted, throwing her hands up in the air.
"And what about this stalker, that's a bit fucked up, Mills. Do they have any leads, like, any idea who it might be?"
"Not really...although I know they think it's someone who works here, on the show."
"Shut the fuck up! Are you serious?"
"Why do you think I'm followed around the set 24/7? I'm not that important" said Millie, exasperated.
"True, true" said Sadie, with a grin.
"Hey!" Millie responded, fake slapping her arm.
"Seriously though, if you need anything, just let me know, ok?" said Sadie, giving her a side hug.
"Yeah, thanks, it'll just be weird..." Sadie looked at her questioningly. "Finn's been walking me between scenes and stuff for weeks, I kind of feel safe with him."
"Come on, he'd still walk you if you asked him, no matter what was going on."
"I guess...I'm just pissed at him right now...maybe I'll talk to him tomorrow, after filming" Millie thought out loud, staring off into nowhere.
"Good plan" said Sadie reassuringly, bringing her back to the present, "what's the worst that can happen, hey?"
