I haven't exactly been honest with everyone recently.
When I was 16, I did some horrible things. Vandalism, theft, small stupid things. I got my ass thrown in jail, and I deserved it.
When I was let out on parole 7 months ago, I ran. The tracking bracelet that was once on my ankle is now somewhere in a dumpster on the west side of the city.
I've tried to stay out of trouble, keep good grades, and trust few people.
Jarred, my parole officer, was never very committed to finding me. I guess that’s why I’ve had it so easy. Nobody’s even looking for me.
Seeing him at the airport brought back too many memories from my past life, and I need to keep that life away from Calum.

I survived the car ride with Calum and Madeline.
The two of them went out to dinner while I’m here with my dog in a dark apartment.
I reach over a pillow to plug my phone in the charger when Matt’s name flashed across the screen.
“Uh, hello?”
“Samantha, I’m out in the parking lot, we need to talk.”
“Were talking right now.”
“Yes but I would like to say this in person. Just come outside.”
His tone is making me uncomfortable.
“No. Were over, you shouldn’t be calling me.”
“Fine, I’ll let myself in.”
The door knob moves and before I can object, he’s standing in the threshold of my apartment.
“Get the fuck out Matt.” I say walking towards him.
I push his shoulder backwards towards the door to get him to at least go back outside.
His arm is suddenly around my wrist and he shoves me against the wall. He’s drunk.
“Who is he?” He growls.
I struggle in his grip and curse at him under my breath. “Matt you’re not this kind of person, let go and get out!”
His hand tightens around my wrist. “I asked you what his fucking name is!
“Who’s name?”
Suddenly his hand is connecting with my cheek. I scream at him.
“Don’t lie to me Sam! I’m talking about the douche bag you dumped me for, who is he?”
“Matt there’s no one else. I just don’t love you.”
“Bullshit!” He screamed, shoving me harder into the wall.
I struggle in his grip but he only holds me tighter. “Matt, stop it, get off of me!”
I see a shadow out of the corner of my eye and soon enough Calum is standing in the doorway.
“Get the fuck off of her!” He yells, entering my apartment.
“Is this him?” Matt let go of me and approached Calum.
Matt reaches up and without a word, punches Calum square in the face.
“She’s mine, stay away from her.”
