Can't I just smile because I feel like it? - Forsythe Pendleton Jones III (Jughead Jones)

Pop's Chock'lit Shoppe was and still is one of the most popular hangout places for adolescences in Riverdale. As the students of Riverdale High are preparing to start a new year, you will find Jughead Jones the majority of the time sat in one of Pop's booths with his laptop. Now people do not usually notice him due to his silent and mysterious presence but, he notices everything.

As his fingers glide across the keys of his laptop, the bell  rings at the entrance; he does not look up. He continues to let the words flow out of him on to his already half full document about the previous summer and Jason Blossom's disappearance and death, his eyes ever so often glancing up to his screen at his work.

The volume of he restaurant slowly decreases into continuous whispers, "Damn, look at the new girl!" Someone whispers from behind Jughead. Jughead finally looks up to find not one but two young ladies looking around. The first girl had medium length dark raven hair, wearing a long black coat; The second girl had blonde hair that waved down her back like a waterfall, her eyes stood out the most - they seemed to be a steely blue colour, almost a dark grey. What confused Jughead was that the guy implied that there was only one girl, like the other female was just invisible. So, why and how did he see her?

The raven haired girl sauntered over to Archie and Betty's table in her black heels, while the the blonde girl hesitantly walks over to bar counter...it looked like she felt lost or she felt like she didn't belong. Jughead was good at that - being able to read others like they were an open book.

She looked around shyly, her eyes wandering to random individuals until they landed and locked with Jughead's - She lightly blushed and gave him a lopsided smile, her plump lips spreading revealing her pearly white teeth and a dimple on her the right side of her face, her eyes slightly squinted. Others would dart their eyes away from him but, for some reason, she didn't.  She turned away from Jughead back to the waiter who was server her - Jughead watched the mysterious girl for a few more seconds - while she ordered, he noticed that she twiddled with a lock of her hair behind her back...maybe she was nervous or it was a unconscious habit. One last second more and he looked away.

He went back to typing on his laptop but, he was now distracted by the mystery girl; he looked up towards the counter where she was but, she was now gone. Jughead looked around the restaurant only to find her beside Archie, she was looking down at her steaming cup of the beverage she ordered earlier. Something in Jughead shifted, this girl was already frustrating him...probably because he thought he was the only one who saw her but, now Archie was looking at her with a small smile on his face.

Scowling slightly, he looked back down at his keyboard only to look back up and once again lock eyes with the bewildering girl, her blue grey eyes dancing across his features - with a half smile, she lifts her cup slightly in the hair nodding to him and taking a sip of her drink. Jughead lifts his drink and nods back at her with the softest, yet smallest smile.

The next day, the first day of school, Jughead walks through the halls with his bag hanging from his shoulder, his beanie clad head down.

He could not get that girl from the previous night out of his goddamm mind.  He wanted to know her name and who she was but, he didn't know where to find her. He knew that she would be coming to his school but, what classes? Where would she hang out? Who would she hang out with?  Wow, I sound like a stalker... he thought.
