At the end of the day, Archie and Ana went to Pop's Diner to grab some lunch, in fact the girls had gone home to get ready for the dance - of course Anastasia went with Archie since she wasn't going, he had a couple of hours to get ready so he didn't fret.
Anastasia felt a bubble of anxiety and excitement at the hope that Jughead might be there. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't...
The bell rang above their heads as they entered the diner, Ana's eyes not so casually dart around in hope to actually see him. However, she wasn't lucky this time...he wasn't there, he wasn't in the booth he was last time. Anastasia's mood deflated almost immediately , her shoulder's slumped forward and her pace became slower - Archie smoothly slid across the booth's plush seat next to the window, Ana sat opposite him.
Archie softly placed his hand on her bare forearm, "Are you alright? You seem to be miles away..." He chuckled lowly whilst his thumb drew circles just by her wrist.
Ana stared down at his hand, his fingers are rough as if he does hard labour or something similar to that. She looked up to his dark eyes and slowly pulled her arm away from his touch, "Yeah, I'm fine. Just tired, you know?" She leaned her head in her hand.
Archie arched an eyebrow knowingly, "i've been friends with Betty for so long to know that when a girl says that she is fine, she is lying." He shaped his fingers into quotation marks when he said 'fine'. "So, what is really wrong?" He asked eyeing her suspiciously.
Anastasia huffed and rolled her eyes, the corner of her mouth quirking up vaguely, "Okay, if you are so interested in my life..." Archie chuckled faintly. "Well, I've just moved in to my new apartment today, I'm all alone. Veronica and Betty told me that I have to ask Jughead to stay with me since he is the only one apart from me not going to the dance. I mean, I barely kn-"
"Wait...Jughead? Why him?" Archie interrupted, shaking his head and scrunching his eyebrows together.
She breathed in deeply, "Like I said, he isn't going. I barely know him...I can't exactly ask him when i have no idea where to find him." She groans and lets her head fall on the table, her hair pooling around her head in front.
Archie laughs like he knows something that she doesn't, "I have his number, so I could text him to come to Pop's if you'd like?"
She lifts her head up, and squishes her cheeks together with her hands, "I could just go to Veronica's mom's home...or-" The bell rings.
"Wait, he is here...Jughead!" Archie interrupts once again and hollers across the diner. She turns around to find the one and only Jughead standing in the doorway.
Jughead turns his head causing his inky hair to shift slightly, he notices Archie. Ana turns quickly and covers the side of her face with her hand, "what are you doing?" She whisper shouts at Archie, but all he is doing is smirking smugly with his arms crossed over his chest.
Jughead finally arrives at their table with his bag slug over his shoulder loosely, "Hey, Arch. What's up?" He asks scanning Anastasia and Archie's table.
Archie leans forward and speaks up, "Well, my friend here wants to ask you a question." He smugly say's, knocking Ana's hand away from her face.
Jughead turns towards Ana and instantly recognises her, "Oh, I know you..." He half smiles as she looks up at him with a dust of pink on her cheeks.
She nod's awkwardly, "Yeah, you caught me." She smiles softly as he slides into the booth next to Archie. "So, urm - Can you help me with something?" Ana asks trying to stall the whole situation altogether.
Jughead nods, "Yeah, go for it." He said as Archie cheekily grins throughout this whole slightly awkward conversation. Well, on Anastasia's end.
Archie nudges her arm with his hand, "Go on." He mouths encouragingly.
