Warning!!!! I wrote some stuff against the sport of softball and while I understand that not all may agree with my views on the sport, I apologize in advance if it offends any of you but that is just how I feel and it is my opinion on the sport.

Chapter 6

Adrian Daniels

“You might want to get real comfortable, it’s going to be a long story.” I hear Danielle saying the softest voice I’ve ever heard come from this little fire cracker.

She takes a deep breath while just staring out at the ocean. Seeing someone like Danielle, who is always so strong and feisty, become so vulnerable and unsure about herself scares me, it makes me wonder what has happened that can make someone like her, who is strong willed and stubborn, become broken like she is now.

I know that I haven’t known her long at all, yet for some reason I can’t help but feel drawn to her. I mean I know she’s beautiful with her fiery red hair and beautiful green eyes, but I’ve seen beautiful girls, and women, before, hell I’ve had them come crawling to me. I’m not trying to sound so cocky and full of it, but I know that my parents did a good job when they made me.

Yet that night when we had dinner at her house and I pay my hand on her thigh, I didn’t mean to do it just to annoy her, well not at first anyways; I did it before I even realized what I was doing. I did it because it felt natural and it just felt right.

But back to why I’m so drawn to Danielle, we all know that it can’t be just because she’s drop dead gorgeous, although that’s a bonus, maybe it’s how she’s brave. I mean trying out for a boy’s baseball team takes balls, not that she has any otherwise it wouldn’t have been a problem if she tried out for the team in the first place, and not only did she try-out for any boy’s baseball team but she tried out for one of the best baseball teams in the state and Coach Martinez’s team, a man so in love with the sport that having a girl on the team was just utter nonsense up until he met the captivating Danielle Connors.

So maybe her bravery and courage are part of the reason as to why I’m drawn to her, but there’s also the fact that she’s stubborn. Yeah, I know that’s a weird reason to feel drawn to someone, especially because it can get really frustrating and annoying really quick, but it also makes her so dedicated to do the one thing she loves so much, play baseball, and not only play but kickass while doing it.

Now I could just keep going on and think of a million reasons as to why this girl, sitting right next to me staring out at the ocean so broken and lost, captures my attention, but then we’d be here forever and I would never get to understand what could’ve been so bad to leave someone like Danielle like she is right now, so I hold my breath and wait patiently as I wait for her to explain.

I look back over to her and just as I do, she turns away from the ocean giving me her undivided attention and stares right into my eyes, making me notice once again just how beautiful her green eyes are, and being this close to her I even notice the little golden and brown specks in them just making them, and her, that much more breath taking.

She breaks eye contact and buries her face in her knees, as she is hugging them to her chest, letting her red curls hide her beautiful face from me, and lets out a groan.

“Ugh I can’t believe I’m letting this get to me so much.” She growls at herself it seems, she lifts her head and looks over at me again with a fake smile, “I can’t believe I’m going to tell you all of this.” She states, “I mean I’ve only know you a few days, you’re going to think that I’m a cry baby who over reacts at the littlest things.” She says looking down.

I look over at her with a blank expression before grabbing her by the chin so she’s looking into my eyes once again, “I know I’ve only known you for a few day Little Red, but I know that something so small could not have affected you this much. You’re honestly probably one of the strongest people I’ve ever met. “I say honestly to her.
