Chapter Ten

Adrian Daniels

I look down to the feisty, yet beautiful redhead that is currently sleeping on my shoulder at the moment. I can help but study her features from her plump pink lips that are begging me to press my own against them to the light coating of freckles that dust across her nose and cheeks. She truly is a one of a kind beauty but she doesn’t even know it.

It’s not only her looks that captivate me, but her personality and athleticism as well. She’s a kind hearted person that is never cruel to anyone unless she is provoked. While she doesn’t get a kick out of hurting others, she will if it means standing up for herself, which honestly is a major turn on for me.

Then there’s the fact that she plays ball like any other guy I know. Hell, she even surpasses many of them. My Little Red truly is an enigma.

I’m brought out of these thoughts as I feel the bus pulling into the school parking lot just as the clouds that have been around all day finally open up and drop the water that has been threatening us all day.

I slowly shake my Little Red awake and slowly see her green eyes flutter open as the grogginess slowly disappears.

“We’re here,” I inform her as she rubs the sleep from her eyes and nods while mumbling what sounds like a ‘thanks.’

As the bus finally pulls to a stop, all the guys remain seated as Coach stands up and faces all of us.

“Before you all grab your stuff and leave for a well-deserved meal, I want to let you know that while I congratulate you all on this win, I saw some mistakes that we need to work on before season actually starts. Now I’m not trying to be negative because you all made me really proud, especially you Dani, for taking that hit and not letting it get to you even though we all knew it was a cheap shot. I think that is all, no go home all of you, you stink and could really use a shower.” He finishes making us a laugh before we get off the bus and run into the rain towards the little patio the school has.

“Hey Dani!” Ron yells, “I’m so sorry to do this to you but do you think you can get another ride, my little sister fell of the swing today and it looks like she might have a broken arm.” He informs her.

“Yeah no problem, I’ll call my mom or something,” she tells him as she begins digging in her bag for her phone.

I put my hand over hers, ignoring the warm fuzzy feeling I’m getting, and she looks up at me, “It’s fine I’ll take her home.” I tell Ron and I see the relief in his face as he says a ‘thanks’ and runs off.

“C’mon I parked over there.” I tell her as we run in the rain towards the car I borrowed from my dad since we had a feeling it may rain today.

I fumble for my keys in my backpack feeling myself getting soaked, “Would’ve been a smart idea to have your keys before you decided to run in the rain!” I hear Dani yell just as I find my keys and unlock the doors.

We quickly jump in and I look over at Dani and see her completely soaked with her red curls plastered to face as she glares at me.

“I’m sorry I didn’t think.” I defend myself even though she has a point.

“Obviously.” She huffs, “I hope you know that if I get sick I’m coming after you.” She informs me with a small smile, letting me know she isn’t really mad.

“Oh really?” I ask mockingly, “And what do you plan on doing to me?” I ask with a smirk on my face as I lean across the consul towards her.

“Oh you don’t want to know.” She says as she leans closer to me too.

“Sounds kinky.” I say with a wink and sit back in my seat as I turn on the car.
