Chapter 7
Danielle Connors
I still can’t believe I spilt my whole life story to this boy who I have my arms around as we drive to school and hopefully we aren’t killed by coach. I’ve only known Adrian for a few days and I’ve already told him stuff that I haven’t even told most people.
Yet for some reason that doesn’t bother me as much as I thought it would. Instead it makes me feel as if a weight was lifted off my chest, as if can help me carry the burden that is my father.
We arrive at the school just as the guys finished their warm-ups and Coach sees us walking in late.
“Daniels, hurry up and change, you and Connors have ten laps around the field.” He says while he gets the rest of the team ready for practice.
Adrian runs the locker room while I run over to Coach, “Aw come on Coach,” I whine, not really because I mind the running but more because I love to bug him.
“Dani, I suggest that you get that you get your annoying pain in the ass self running if you want to play in our next scrimmage game next week.” He says in his joking voice.
I pout, “Fine,” I say and start jogging just as Adrian comes out of the locker room and quickly catches up with me.
“Bet you I could beat you to the foul post,” I challenge once he reaches my side.
“You’re on Little Red.” He says before sprinting ahead of me.
“You cheater!” I shout catching the whole team’s attention as I run to catch up to him and when I do, I can see how shocked he is at my speed, and being the mature adult that I am I stick out my tongue at him before pushing my body even harder.
Once Adrian gets over the shock he does the same until we are neck and neck and I hear the entire team stop what they are doing as they take a side and cheer for either Adrian or I, but truthfully most of them cheer for me since they’ve only known Adrian for a few days.
I see us coming up closer to the foul post and, if possible, I push myself even harder, just as Adrian does yet again.
Knowing that this will be a tie, I decide to have a little fun with this and stick out my foot, tripping Adrian who stumbles, but instead of being a normal person and just falling, the idiot has to grab my wrist and pull me down with him.
Thanks to the momentum from out speed, we end up rolling for a good while until we stop with Adrian lying right on top of me.
I feel a throbbing on my wrist from where Adrian pulled me down with him and moan a little in pain.
“Little Red,” he whispers in my ear, still on top of me, “I suggest you don’t moan like that when I’m on top of you.” He says and I blush.
“You pig!” I shout as I try to push him off of me.
“Keep going baby. I like when you talk dirty to me.” He says making me blush even more.
“Ugh you’re such a perv!” I shout at him as I try to push him off of me again, “Get off of me Dipshit you weigh a ton!” I yell at him.
“Please Little Red,” he says as he rolls off, “This is all muscle.” He says with a smirk as he lays right next to me on the grass and the rest of the team is running towards us.
“Keep telling yourself that Daniels.” I say and cradle my left wrist to my chest as we get up from the grass.
“Whoa what happened there?” he asked as he grabs my wrist making me hiss out in pain and he gives me a quick apologetic look.
