dear bella rue,

i was reading an old interview of yours that was featured in rolling stone (if i see a magazine or a newspaper with your name on it, i will instantly buy it). the interviewer has asked you about your feminist message that is laced throughout most of your work. “i’ve always been too impatient to conform to gender expectations,” you said. “i’ve always thought that girls shouldn’t be afraid to ask a guy out or steal the first kiss. what gives guys the right? let us make them guess for once, y’know?”

that’s all very nice and well, bella rue, but have you ever been so into a guy that you’re afraid of it? has there ever been a guy that you liked so much that he just seemed to constantly grab at your attention, even if the situation at hand has absolutely nothing to do with him? was there ever a guy that you seemed to like more than you even liked yourself? that’s jesse to me, bella rue. but then again, what do i know? i’m a single fifteen year old, and you’re a married twenty seven year old.

i just don’t know anymore, bella rue. i really don’t.

sincerely yours,

silvia.
