Chapter Five

Tyler woke up to the gentle touch of his mother.  "Tyler," his mother said after shaking him "hm?" He murmered

"It's time to get up, the police are here,"  Tyler's mom walked out of his bedroom and Tyler heard his mothers voice as she was talking to a man in uniform. 

                Tyler's POV
I licked my lips to get the sleep taste out of my mouth and sat up. 

I was half embarrassed of how much I overreacted but what was worst was that the police were here. 

I sighed and brushed off my skeleton hoodie as I stood up. 

"Mom?" I called from my door "oh Tyler," my mom said and her warm embrace made me have goosebumps. 

I looked over her shoulder and made eye contact with the police officer standing behind us. 

"Tyler, you're going to have to go to the hospital, okay?"  I shook my head no.

"Tyler, please," my mom pleaded "Tyler," the police officer called my name.  I sighed and turned around to face him. 

"Come on, we have to take you to the hospital," the police officer said.  He had short brown hair and I couldn't see his eyes behind his sunglasses. 

My gut was begging me to run into my room but I forced myself to follow the officer out the door. 

I climbed into the backseat of the officers car and he started the engine.  "My name is officer Casey but, you can call me sir," the officer said as he drove out of my driveway. 

Hot tears rolled down my cheeks and I winced as it felt like the tears were burning through my cheeks and into my head making fun of me and calling me names.

I quickly rubbed my cheeks and shook my head.  "You got that," the officer said.  How much time has passed? I asked myself.  It felt like hours but it was less than a minute. 

I said nothing "hey, kid," the officer said loudly.  My eyes got wide and I listened alertly. 

"Why don't you talk?" He asked impatiently.  Again, I said nothing. 

"Are you deaf?" I shook my head no and looked out the window. 

"Kids like you," he said and shook his head dissaprovingly like I muredered someone. 

I rolled my eyes. 

                     Josh's POV

I don't know what was scarier when I went into my house. My moms new boyfriend or my mom. 

"This is Seth, my new, soon to be husband," my mom said and I cringed. 

"Hey," he said and stuck out his hand.  I glared at him and walked into my room. 

I checked my phone and a text message from Chase caught my eye. 

Chase:
What happened today? Did you punch the emo kid too?

Josh:
What are you talking about, I'm blocking your number

Chase:
The creep you stuck up for is now in the hospital, have fun asshole

I suddenly felt sick and ran to the bathroom.  Orange and green throwup was all over the toilet.

I tried to stand up and a wave of dizziness fell over me.  I moaned and grabbed the sink. 

I sat on the toilet seat and rubbed my head.  "Josh?" My mom knocked on my door "huh?" I gurgled "did you throw up?" "Yeah," "make sure you clean it up."

I sighed and stood up, I flushed the puke and walked out of the bathroom.

"Did you clean it up?" My mom asked grabbing my shoulders "yes." Suddenly my cheek started burning and my mom started crying "DONT TALK TO ME LIKE THAT!" She wailed. 

"Hey!" My moms boyfriend came over "I should kill you for that," he walked closer to me until I could smell his breath.

I pushed him away and ran out my front door "COME BACK," he yelled and started chasing me. 

I was going to the hospital.
