"Yes, I am fully aware of what this means for me and the campaign John." My dad paces back and forth in the kitchen on the phone with his PR manager. "No this wasn't leaked on purpose! My wife won't sleep in the same bed with me because of this shit storm." He walks over to the window where all the paparazzi are and closes it. "Great now the fucking paparazzi are here..... No I will not fucking calm down John this is my reputation we are talking about!" He rubs his temples and hangs up the phone mid sentence. He sits down beside me on the bar counter table.
"I'm sorry about all of this dad." I'm really not. He faintly laughs and holds his head in his palms.
"Its okay, this isn't your fault." Yeah it is.
"I know dad, I just feel bad for you and mom." I honestly don't. I get up and put my bowl of cereal in the sink with a grin on my face.
I walked upstairs to get ready for school when I see Kyra writing in a black book, the same one she had at school. I peek from behind her door frame. I examine all her tattoos. She doesn't seem like the type of girl to get that many tattoos. But the person she was before her accident could be completely different than the person she is today. I walk back to my room and get ready for school.
"Dude, that Kyra girl is so weird." I roll my eyes at Justin. He's had a "weird vibe" for Kyra since she got here. I usually tune him out when he talks bad about her.
"And why do you say that this time?" I say, sarcastically interested in what he has to say about her.
"She never leaves that little book alone. And I haven't seen her talk to anyone but you."
"What do you expect? She came here when second semester of school. Of course being the new girl is gonna take a toll on the whole 'friend making' process." He sucked his teeth.
"You're just saying that because you like her." I can feel the heat rising in my cheeks.
"No, I don't. I'm just stating facts."
"Landon?" We both turn to see Kyra leaning out the computer labs door. "I need to show you something." I nod and grab my bag. Justin nudges me playfully and I roll my eyes once more." I walk in and see her sitting at one of the computers.
"What's up?" She points to the monitor screen and I take a seat by her. I take a look at it and see its an article from Darla.
"Who really is David Grayson?" Kyra starts to read it out loud. "Is he the true man we thought was humbly running for president? Or is he something else? Something more Scandalous and sinister?" On April 19th, 2016 a video was leaked out of former runner David Grayson having an affair with a woman that wasn't his wife. Sources also say that the same anonymous that leaked the photo also made the statement of David Grayson blackmailing women into sex to keep his name sake in the running. What will David Grayson do next?" Kyra looks at me with a beaming smile and I returned one to her.
"We actually did it." I look at the article in pure awe.
"I guess he's finally getting a taste of justice." She turns the computer off and we head the room. We continue to walk to the bus until Justin stops us. Justin waved at Kyra.
"Hi, I'm Justin."
"Oh yeah I have you in one of my classes. I'm Kyra." Justin points to me.
"Buddy over here has told me a lot about you." Kyra raised her eyebrow and smiled.
"I hope it was all good." She nudges me playfully and I look down smiling in embarrassment.
I'm going to kill you Justin.
