It sounds like its coming from Kyra's room. I jolt out of bed and run to her room opening the door. My mom and Jacob follow me. I just see her sitting up on the bed, panting and sweating like she just ran a marathon. She looks around the room, confused to where she is. "Are you okay Kyra?" My mom asks her concerned. She finally seems to be calming down and loosens her grip on the bed sheets.
"I'm fine, just a nightmare. It was stupid." She laughs reassuringly.
"Okay, well head back to bed sweetie." Kyra nods at my mothers demand. At that, my parents go their separate ways and Jacob goes back to his room. But I stand there staring at her worried. That wasn't just any scream. It sounded like she was being killed.
"I'm fine Landon. Really."
"Somehow I don't believe that." A slight weak smile forms on her face.
"I guess I can't make you believe that."
"Do you want me to stay in here with you?"
"You don't have to." She says, almost sounding like she's a burden to me. I shake my head at her.
"I want to." I leave the door ajar and accompany her in the bed. We both lay down and I hesitantly lay my arm around her waist. I can feel her tension easing and she wraps her arm with mine. We lay there in comforting silence until I say something that's been on my mind for a while. "I can tell there's a lot you keep to yourself."
"What do you mean?"
"About your past. I know you don't remember much, but I know you keep what you remember to yourself. Why?" She lets a sigh out.
"I guess I have issues trusting people." I don't say anything for a moment, scared of what she might say next.
"Do you trust me?" She turns to face me and looks at me as if looking straight into my soul.
"Of course I do. I always will." We both gaze at each other until locking our lips together. Our soft playful kisses turn more aggressive and passionate. She gets on top of me and takes me shirt off. She proceeds to leave a trail of kisses down my stomach, taking my pants off. I grab her and turn her on her back. I kiss on her neck, being careful not to leave anything noticeable. I take off her clothes and we try to be the quietest we can be. I can tell she's experienced knows what she's doing. "Landon." She manages to say between panting. The rest of the night is a complete blur. But a good blur.

"I'm making french toast, everyone okay with that?"
"Yeah." Everyone says synchronized.
"So, how did you sleep last night?" Jacob asks Kyra.
"Better." We both sneak a look at each other, knowing what happened behind that door. After we slept together last night, I quickly went into my room this morning for my mom or Jacob to find out what happened.
"Sorry I couldn't be much of a help." Flirtation fills Jacobs voice and I roll my eyes in disgust, seeing how Jacob is 20 and Kyra is 15. She laughs nervously and its obvious she's uncomfortable.
"How's that girlfriend of yours Jacob? I hope you two are still together?" I say, faking my interest. He just rolls his eyes in response. "That's what I thought." My phone starts to buzz and I see that its my dad calling. My mom kicked him out the house after she found out Darla was killed I walk to the backyard and answer. "Hello?"
"Hey kiddo," I could already tell he was drunk. "could you do me a favor?"
"What do you need?"
"I need you to get me your moms phone."
"And how am I going to get it?" I say, skeptical of his request.
"Just hide it before she goes to work. Then you can bring it to me after school." I sigh, I know I'm going to regret this.
"Fine, I'll get it. Where are you staying at?"
"I'll text you the address."
"Might I ask what you need her phone for?" There's silence on the other line.
"I just need to look something up on there." At this point it's hard to make out his words. "You're a good kid Landon."
"Thanks." At that, I hang up the phone and set off to my assignment. Once I get inside I can hear my mom in her room. I spot my mom's phone on the kitchen counter and take it before Jacob could see me and ask questions. I go upstairs and get ready for school.
I stare at my mom's phone and try to think of numbers she might use as her password. "What are you doing?" I hear Kyra behind me and she takes a seat beside me.
"I'm trying to think of my mom's password." She looks at me confused.
"Why do you need that?"
"To see if Tommy's number is in here."
"Is staring going to make it unlock." I finally come up with a solution.
"Sup guys." Justin says walking towards us.
"Justin, can you break into this phone?" He takes it and examines it for a moment.
"Who's is it?"
"I found it on the grass and I wanted to see who's its was." Of course I have to lie. He would never do it if I told him I was trying to break into my mom's phone to see if she's dealing with a drug dealer.
"I could get it done when school finishes."
"Thank you."
I look through the phone as I wait for my dad at a four star hotel. Justin found out it was my mom's and thought I was trying to get information about Kyra. Which I just agreed to since I didn't want him badgering me about what I was doing with it. I go through her contacts and try to see if Tommy is saved in here. Nothing. I next go to her text messages and try to see if they have talked in the last five years. My mom hasn't changed her phone number in years so its possible to find his number. Bingo. I finally find his number and I start to read their text.
Marilyn: I need some now.
Tom: Look, you don't have any money for a fix.
Marilyn: I already told you I had a plan.
Tom: And what might that be?
Marilyn: My daughter has half a million on her life insurance. I can have something happen to her and the money is yours.
Tom: Doing business with you is always interesting.
Marilyn: What can I say, I'm an interesting woman.
I felt sick to stomach. This isn't making any sense. None of it is. The lobby begins to spin. "Hey sport. You okay?" I turn to my dad who has a hand on my shoulder. I try to say something to him, but everything goes black.
