You really need to turn up to every class on the days you're attending college/university. Because a good number (or all) of them are mandatory for you to take and turn up if you are planning to go back for another year. So you can't skip them like you did with your classes in middle/high/secondary schools (if you were a bit of a rebel). Plus you can't be late. Doesn't matter if you're on a bursary or not, you can't be late. If you miss a lot of classes/class hours, you will instantly fail.

Believe me, a classmate of mine who lives a walking distance away from the college I go to, he keeps on not turning up to class or be a half an hour or more late. He missed a number of tests and work, plus he keeps on missing the event planning class that he's apart of with myself and our fellow classmate (let's call him K). He's making us run around like headless chickens with that class. A tutor that we get on Monday morning said to us yesterday (the day we come back from spring break, 17/4/2017) that he needed to fix his word processing work and catch-up with his ecdl. He's already failing or has failed. K, myself and our tutor are not surprised. K and I had to go everyday because we don't want to lose our bursaries and Mr. No Show doesn't have one.

With that little rant out of the way, you need to bring a pencil case (with pens, pencils, sharpener, rubbers (not that rubber)/erasers, white out/tip pex, highlighter(s) and a ruler), a folder with paper, punched pockets or both (you can get folders with the pockets), a notebook or two, a usb stick/external hard drive, a laptop (if you can afford one), a calculator (in case you have to do some math) and a good book bag/messenger bag. I recommend a heavy duty bag to carry your stuff that'll last through the college year. Believe me, using heavy duty bags won't fall apart half way through the first semester from the weight of the stuff you're carrying.

Attending your classes would be 1-3 days a week. Depends if you going there full time or part time and the hours varies. The classes can start between 9 am to 12 pm can finish around 1 pm to 6 pm. Your lunch break could last from a half an hour to 3 hours. Sometimes your classes finishes at lunch.

When you're not in class, have about a couple of hours for studying and do some papers. Please don't stay up way past midnight, because you'll be falling asleep in class or miss a good chunk of the day. It isn't healthy for you or your mental state. Pulling an all-nighter is not a great idea whatsoever. Go to bed at a reasonable time. Even you night owls.

You can ask to borrow text books from the college for free to help you through your course and also the college/uni allows you to download Microsoft programmes for free through their website. Depends on what place you go to.

If you're having trouble with something with your work, don't be afraid to ask the tutors or your fellow students. You can ask them through Facebook or email when you're not in class. I recommend emailing your tutors instead of messaging them through Facebook. Because they would see your posts there if you're complaining about them or something that they may not like. Not the brightest idea to do that. You'll get into trouble for that.
