I remembered when I was chosen for those interviews regarding the trial with the Baker Family versus the school. I was somehow able to answer most of all the questions without choking. Then the tapes came up, the thought of the harsh truth made me actually choke. They say the truth will set you free but it didn't set me free because a void still sat in my heart.

"Good Morning, Miss Smith," Mr.Vasquez said kindly but he masked his worry for the girl with a neutral voice and kind tone.

"Good Morning," You said dully you weren't dressed up all nice like the others, your hair looked like you just rolled out of bed, and it was clear you weren't sleeping well.

"My name is Dennis Vasquez representing Andrew and Olivia Baker, and this is deposition, I'll be asking you questions, and you must answer them truthfully unless you are clearly instructed otherwise. Do you understand Miss Smith?" Dennis asked carefully and you could tell he was tiptoeing around you.

"Yes." You responded dryly as your voice was dead and your eyes held no sign of life.

"There is no judge present but this is a formal legal proceeding. You are under the same legal obligations, to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Do you understand?" Dennis asked.

"Yes I do," You said.

"Alright let's begin please state your full name, your age, where you go to school, and what year you are in please," Dennis asked.

"My name is (Y/n) (M/n) Smith. I am seventeen years old and I am a junior at Liberty High," You said and you could feel your parents and sister's piercing stares from across the room as well as Hannah's parents. They were all worried for you even the attorney and investigator it was clear you were not handling any of it well.

"When and where did you first meet Hannah Baker?"

"A year ago at the Crestmont," You said softly and as your voice changed the whole room noticed and it wasn't a bad thing.

"How well did you know Hannah?"

"She was my best friend I knew everything about her," You said blinking away tears as you felt your eyes water.

"Are you aware of anyone bullying Hannah?"

"Dennis, we're going to object. That asks her to qualify information."
