"I missed this place," Tina said as she and Newt walked up the lawn to his house. "I missed it here too," Newt said, snow crunching under his boots. He knocked on the door, and Mrs. Scamander answered. "Tina, love, it's been so long!" She hugged Tina before turning to Newt to fuss over him. Tina saw Credence. He was with Caoimhe, hovering close by her in a manner that was almost protective. But the way he looked at her! It was like a blind man who had just seen the sun for the first time! He looked at her as if she were the most beautiful creature on Earth. Credence jerked his head towards Tina, and his eyes widened.
"Tina!" he said, running up to hug her. Tina hugged him gently before asking, "Is everything okay?" "I think so," Credence said, retreating back to hover over Caoimhe again. Caoimhe brushed her fingers up against his, a smile on her face. "Better than okay. He's been doing an amazing job with controlling his powers. He's made some real progress," Credence smiled back, a true smile that Tina never thought she would see on Credence's face. Caoimhe rushed up to Newt and hugged him gently, Credence close by. Credence continued to follow as Caoimhe ran up to hug Tina. "I'll let you talk alone with Tina and Newt, okay?" Caoimhe said to Credence. She shrugged on her jacket before stepping out into the snow. Credence watched her intensely before turning to Newt and Tina.
"How have you managed to control it so far?" Newt asked. "I-I'm not sure. It's sort of become natural. It's not such a struggle anymore," Credence said. Silence. Then, "Credence, I can't help but notice the way you act around Caoimhe. Is everything okay with you and her?" Tina asked. Credence was silent, trying to find words to describe it. "It's like... thousands... millions of steel wires are rooting me to her. I would do anything to protect her. I would do anything to see her smile or hear her laugh. It's just..." Credence trailed off. He jerked his head in the direction of a sound. A loud roar. He leapt out of his seat and ran out into the snow, Newt and Tina close on his heels.
Caoimhe was attempting to calm down a large hippogriff who was acting up. Suddenly, it reared, sending Caoimhe flying. Blood trickled down her arm. Credence wailed. His face went dark as the Obscurus tore from within, barreling straight towards the hippogriff. "Credence!" Tina screamed, but he didn't hear her. He was chasing the hippogriff, wailing at the top of his lungs. Newt tried to find a way to calm him down, but no luck. "Credence please!" Caoimhe screamed, and almost immediately, the wailing ceased and the Obscurus began to fade. Caoimhe ran up to it as it shrunk into the shape of a sobbing Credence. She knelt down beside him and at once began to comfort him. "Incredible," Newt said under his breath. "Credence's feelings for Caoimhe are nearly as strong as my feelings for you." Tina kissed him quickly before running up to see how she could help.

The idea for Credence/Caoimhe popped into my head as I was writing The Visit. I wanted Caoimhe to be a character who, like Newt, could look past first appearances and see the beauty within. I felt like Credence needed someone like her to help him fully realize that he isn't a freak, and that he's just a young bot who deserves to be loved. What do you guys think about Credence/Caoimhe? Plz let me know down in the comments!
