A/N - I'm not too sure about this chapter, so sorry if it sucks!

By the time they had battled their way through the gathered spectators, Rowen had already vanished inside the Town Hall, once again leaving others to clean up her mess.

The victim was a man around the age of forty, with unusually long eye lashes and a scar above his right eyebrow. His injuries made Evie look lucky. Fractured, jagged bone ruptured the mutilated flesh surrounding his chest, his ribs having been completely torn open, ripped apart so that fragments were laying immersed in the layers of scarlet blood rippling on the cobblestone.

Christina was stood near the front of the crowd, and much to Alex's dismay, Zoe walked up to her.

"Hey, what happened?" she asked, face stretched into a worried frown.

"Oh, um..." Christina looked down, as if she were ashamed. "It was kinda my fault..."

"How was it your fault?"

"Well...I sort of promised him a statue and then forgot and he got kinda pissed..."

"Did he hurt you?" Zoe inquired, suddenly concerned.

"No, but he would have if Rowen hadn't...stopped him."

"Stopped him?"

"Well...yeah. I mean, he came at me with a knife, she saw, and then...well, punished him."

"Are you ok?"

Christina smiled sweetly. "I'm fine, thank you."

She was like a completely different person. Whenever Zoe was around, she always seemed so kind, so...normal, and then the instant she and Alex were alone it was like flipping a switch. One minute the perfect, compassionate citizen, the next manipulative, sadistic psychopath. Why hadn't she just told Zoe about her? It was too late now; she'd never believe her.

"So...she did all this because of an attempted murder?" Zoe said in disbelief, anger beginning to latch onto her voice.

"Well, she has always been over protective of family..."

There was a slight pause as Zoe processed what she'd just said. "Wait...family?"

"Oh, did I not tell you? Rowen's...kinda my sister."

"Oh." There was a lull in the conversation as Zoe thought about the information that Alex had discovered yesterday. "I can kind of see the resemblance now. Of course, you're much prettier."

Christina giggled. Actually giggled. "My my, Zoe, are you flirting with me?"

"Maybe."

Alex could hardly believe what she was seeing. She wanted to scream. Surely, surely Zoe didn't like Christina?

"Um, I think we should probably go see Piper now." Alex quickly interjected, hardly able to bear the thought of her best friend and one of her worst enemies forming a relationship of any kind, especially a romantic one.

"Yeah, she's probably right..." Zoe said, still addressing Christina. "See you later." she smiled suggestively, beginning to walk towards the steps.

"Hey, Zoe?" Christina called after her. "Can I talk to you for a sec? Alone?"

"Um, sure." Zoe turned to face them. "Can you two go on ahead?

Alex glared at her, doing her best to hide her roaring anger, her insatiable frustration. "Sure." She said flatly.

And then she was gone, down the stairs, happily conversing with the woman who Alex was beginning to think was even more dangerous than her younger sister.
