"you're here! I haven't heard from you in forever." rowan's smile could be seen from the moment kaylani walked through the coffee shop door, the bell above it jingling enough to alert her to her crushes' arrival. kaylani smiled, nodding as she slid into the booth across from rowan.
"I haven't been out since the wrap party, what, two weeks ago?"
"three." rowan sighed, spinning her straw in her iced mocha. "why is that? what's happening, kay?"
"my mom." kaylani sighed, looking down. she took a sip from the tea rowan had graciously gotten her, focusing on her hands. "she's back at it."
"back at what?" rowan asked, watching the other girl with concern. kaylani looked at her warily, biting her lip.
"I don't wanna talk about it here. it's... uncomfortable. you can come with me to my therapy session in thirty minutes if you want, though. normally they don't let people come in, but for special cases..."
"you're a special case?"
"i'm pretty messed up, row. really messed up. it's not really anyone's fault, I guess. but i'm messy."
"and you want me to come with you?" rowan asked hesitantly, making the seventeen year old nod.
"if you're comfortable with it, I mean. normally chandler comes but he's already back in atlanta and-"
"it's fine, kay. i'll go, I want to."
"thank you."
