the set was eerily quiet when kaylani arrived, a starbucks tray in hand. this had become a tradition in the past few months- kay brought coffee on tuesdays and fridays, corey on saturdays and thursdays, and rowan on mondays and wednesdays. amir subbed in when kay wasn't needed on set, and peyton subbed in when corey wasn't needed on set. sabrina and ceci typically subbed in whenever the others weren't free or ran late.

kaylani absolutely dreaded seeing rowan today, but she dreaded seeing corey more. it was more of a contest to see who could get there first in her opinion, because that would determine how she reacted. but she was a bit early, so she didn't expect anyone for a while.

"so, did you and rowan talk it out or...?" amir startled her as she placed the drink carrier down on a table in the classroom, and she found herself turning, drink in hand.

"we did... not. we kinda avoided the topic. how did you-"

"corey told me. i'm expecting you to do something, but i'm not sure what." amir had been getting good at reading how kaylani thought, and she let a sly smile slip.

"you're a miracle, amir. no one else can read me that well. except rowan, but..." she shook her head, taking a long sip of her macchiato before passing him his own mocha.

"you're a blessing, kay." he laughed, nudging her slightly. "we're finally filming together today, you know."

"I know! i'm really excited to see how zay and ama- if you'll excuse me. corey." kaylani turned her gaze to the boy as he approached, and he gulped as he saw the look on her face. he was in for it, and he knew it.

"look, kay, I love you, you know tha-"

"I brought you some coffee." kaylani cut him off, a sweet smile on her face. "in fact, here you go." she went to hand it to him, instead dumping it over his head. he stumbled back, trying to shield his eyes from it, as amir laughed quietly in the background.

"okay, I deserved tha- you're not done." he managed to close his eyes before the other coffee came pouring down his face. "good thing I didn't get wardrobe done yet."

"yeah, good thing," kay replied bitterly, shaking her head. rowan and sabrina rounded the corner, the blonde's eyes widening as she took in the scene before them- kaylani with an empty cup in hand, corey with coffee all over him, and ceci and amir laughing in the background.

"what... just happened?" she asked, looking at the group. kaylani just smiled, making eye contact with rowan as she replied, "just fixing some loose ends on my end."

"mm, that she was. thank you, kay." rowan smiled, winking at her with a slight air to her. sabrina looked between the two of them, her eyes lighting up with mischief.

"oh. so I take it corey-" the blonde started, only to be cut off.

"I did, yeah," he interjected, nodding, "and i'm sorta regretting it. please, don't rub it in."

"the coffee or your ego?" kaylani retorted, smiling when ben walked into the room.

"what-"

"you don't want to know," ceci and amir chorused, making the rest of the cast laugh, too.

"oh, here, I got y'all drinks." kaylani grinned, passing them out to their designated human. when she handed corey his, she just looked at him, softly stating, "thank you." he raised an eyebrow, words trying to tumble from his lips, but she had already passed him, walking to sabrina and rowan.

"a white chocolate mocha, hot, with double whipped cream for sabby, an iced chocolate chip macchiato with double whipped cream for row, and that's all i've got. is peyton not filming today?" she maintained eye contact with sabrina the whole time, finding it hard to meet rowan's gaze again. sabrina laughed and shook her head, a smile forming on her lips.
