"Nicky sweetheart, it's time to get up. C'mon Nick." He's not waking up. "NICK LET'S GO! WAKE UP!" He's not moving. I have to call the Contrality. As I get the phone, I hear a knock on our door.

I peep out the window and see it's an official, "Hello Sir. How can I help you today?" I say as I open the door.

"Hello Claire, the Contrality has seen that Nick is unresponsive to his daily wake up time. May I come in and check upon him?"

"Yes please. He's in his bedroom, to the right."

"Thank you Claire." He says as walks down the hall. When he enters Nick's room, he rushed over to my little Nicky and picks him up. "Claire, due to Nick being unresponsive, I will have to take him to the nearest hospital. We will contact you when we find out anything. Thank you Claire." He says as he walks out with my baby.

Once he left I knew I wouldn't be able to stop thinking about him, but it's against the rules. Well it's not the first time I've broken a rule. What is wrong with Nick? What did I do wrong? He seemed fine yesterday. Ugh. I hate how I'm different and how I can't seem to stay by the rules.

I have to continue going on about the day because if I don't then the Contrality will come after me. I have to shower and prepare myself for work. I work as a birthing nurse for the local hospital. Maybe Nicky's there and they might let me see him. I hope so.

I need to stop thinking about him. I know he'll be okay. I just need to focus on work. This woman is crying cause the labor pains are too intense for her. I feel bad because I have a baby but never had to go through this pain for him. In the end though I think she'll be grateful for this pain cause she have a brand new love of her life. Someone knocks on the door as this baby is about to come out. "John can you get that please?" John is a co-worker of mine. He helps alot.

"Uh Claire it's a gentleman asking for you. He says its about Nick."

"Okay John, can you take over here please? She is just about ready. Keep the movements going and the breathing steady please." My heart is racing. A million thoughts running through my mind. "Hello Sir." It's the same gentleman from this morning.

"Hello Claire, first I want to thank you for continuing on with your day. Many soon to be mother's thank you. Second, Nick. He is breathing. The doctor's have said it was a slight sickness that caused him to sleep more than usual. He will be fine in about 3 hours. After work you will be able to take him home. You will need to monitor him and report any changes in behavior to the Contrality. Do you understand this?"

"Yes Sir. Thank you Sir and thank the Contrality for me as well."

"You are certaintly most welcome." He says as he walks away. My heart is so overwhelmed. I am so grateful that my baby is okay. As I walk back into the delivery room I see the new mother holding her baby. It's a girl.

"Congratulations. She is beautiful." She looks so tired and so happy. As am I.
