Chapter 16- Preparations

THE NEXT DAY

; I woke up to the sun shining in my face. I rubbed my eyes and yawned. I picked up my phone and saw seven missed phone calls. I sighed, automatically knowing who it was, I unlocked my phone and dialed the number that was blowing up my phone.

"hello?" I said in a groggy voice.

"Care to explain why you blew off my friend last night and why it took seven times for me to call you for you to answer?!" a voice yelled from the other line.

I sighed, "Farah, it's SEVEN in the fucking morning, can you give me a minute to wake up fully before you start giving me heat?!"

"Well I'm sorry but I can't help but to be upset when it took all of my hard work to convince this guy to go on a blind date, and you blow him off. What did you do that made you call a rain check anyway?"

"I went...shopping."

"Shopping really? So..you blew off a date..to go shopping. When you can go shopping at anytime..oh will you just cut the crap Saph and tell me where you were!" She said with a hint of irritation in her voice.

"FINE. I was out with Jacob okay." I said rolling my eyes.

"Out with Jacob?! The dude that you can't stand? I thought you guys hated each other! You blew my friend off because of THAT jerk?"

"Look, let me explain; I was on my way to meet up at the place you told me to go, but Jacob stopped me and asked me if he could take me shopping and out for a bite to eat to make up how harsh he treated me. I denied at first but he was so persistent that I just went to shut him up!"

"Oh, so Jacob has a change of heart now? I must say, I didn't expect that.. so what, you guys made up?"

"Something like that." I said getting up.

"Did you enjoy your little outing?" I could hear the teasing in her voice.

"It was okay..nothing too special. I really hate I missed out on that date though, and to make it up to you, you're invited to my engagement dinner tonight. Don't ask, just have on formal attire."

"Really? I'm guessing it has something to do with the wedding thing?"

"Yep, too long to explain right now, but hey..what was name of the guy you were setting me up with?" I asked curiously.

"Chase..why?"

My eyes widened a little, I wonder if she's talking about the same Chase I knew, that would have to be pure coincidence, maybe they had the same name or something.

"Really? That's weird because I know a dude name Chase..Maybe it's just pure coincidence." I said shrugging if off.

"Yeah.. could be, anyway, I've got to go now, I need to go shopping for a dress for your little event, text me the details Kay?"

"Alright, bye."

I hung up my phone and tossed it on the bed. I guess I could just waste time until it's time to start getting ready for the engagement party.

; After watching marathons of old shows on TV, I decided to see what Jacob was up too. I haven't heard from him all day, I didn't know if he was in the house or not, I honestly didn't care. Not that I was mad at him or anything, but I was already pretty nervous about this whole engagement thing and him being around nagging in my ear wouldn't have made it any better.
