The Capitol Woman leads us into our District Hall, abandoning the mess of relieved teenagers, and hands us over to some Peacekeeper Guards.

A man dressed in white armor head to toe clamps on my arm with a tight grip and drags me down a glowing gold hall to my right. "Hey!" I protest.

We slip across a wooden door that he opens and then he shoves me in it.

First class alright.

The room is empty other then a sparkling chandelier and a small black leather couch behind me. I just decide to sit on the fluffy cushions, and wait.

The door bursts open.

"Glimmer! Why didn't you tell me!" My mothers asks, enraged.

" You should have warned me! your going to die and I'll be daughterless!"

"Thanks for the support, mom!" I reply sarcastically."but it's okay I'm fine I can do this. Just have a little faith in me for once."

"Darling" my mother whispers as she clenches her teeth. " Twenty four of you go in the arena, one comes out! Nobody in the right mind would even think about,...volunteering!"

Even though she's upset she runs to me and wraps me in an embracive hug.

"Come home...Come home." she says as Peacekeepers pull her out the door." I love you Glimmer!" her voice fading. "I love you too!" At least I fit in those words before the door slammed shut.

I start to regret my actions. is my mother right?

Snap out of it. She isn't. Im going to win, I just know.

I lean against the door, wondering if anybody else will come.

"Ouch!" I yell as I clench the side of my head with my face painted with a sour look.

"Oh! Sorry Glimmer!" It's Opal.

She bites her pink lips so hard I spot a speck of blood emerging.

" Sorry I just wanted to wish you good luck!" She comments in a sympathetic tone.

"Thanks" I reply.

"Oh and Shimmer, Em, and Goldie say knock em' dead!"

I giggle as I lend her a warm hug. "I'll see you soon, okay.

"You better" she says jokingly as the door opens for her to exit.

Once she is out of sight the Peacekeepers snatch me by the arms again."Time to go."
