Marvel and I stand in awe before the silver- blue train before us. I try to look back to find the end of it, but am unsuccessful. There are clear long windows on every car and the symbol of the Capitol, an eagle with spread wings printed on it.
"Well come on then" the Capitol lady insists, her teal eyelashes batting widely.
As Marvel and I go up the particularly small stair case we stop in our tracks at the top.
Luxury, I thought I knew what it was, but no, this...this, is luxury.
There are white flower arrangements, silver candelabra, sparkling chandeliers, delectable foods spread around, drinks of all different colors,it's beautiful.
"Woah"is all Marvel Says on the subject.
I stare to my left where a small wooden shelf sits below white china set.
"So you like it?" The Capitol lady asks in an excited tone.
"This is,... incredible" I reply with a mouth wide open
"Come and sit." she motions us toward the large mahogany dining table in the center of the room.
Marvel and I wander over and take a seat with her.
"I can't believe I haven't introduced myself yet, I'm Fannia Selkirk, your district announcer, and I am here to guide through the glitz and glamour of our amazing Capitol, and your journey to the arena, so if you have any questions, just ask."
Marvel and I sit and say nothing.
"Well I'll just go fetch your mentors then." And she exits without another word through the automatic door to the next car.
"So how've you been?" Marvel asks.
I roll my eyes.
"What? what did I do?" he asks with a grin.
"Don't pretend like everything is okay. Do you know what is happening right now?"I ask with a tense face. " we are headed to the Hunger Games, where we have to face our likely death."
"Maybe you, but not me, I'm gonna win." He says as he kicks up his feet on the chair next to him.
"I think you should ju-" I am cut off by the opening of the car door.
A man and a woman emerge, Our mentors. I stand, and So does Marvel after a second or two.
The woman comes toward me first. " Hi, I'm Amethyst Lorendale, but you can call me Amy, and you are?"
"Glimmer Belcourt"
"Pleased to meet you" she says with a charming smile. I quickly get lost in her gorgeous bright blue- purple eyes. Her white-blonde hair is in a French braid, tied with an orange bow.
I suddenly gain my normal consciousness when she begins to speak again.
" This is my co-mentor, Leather Alcurt. I will be your personal mentor Glimmer, and Leather will be Marvel's."
"We just though it would be easier for the both of you to have your own mentor since there were two of us" Leather says, he has a very deep toned voice.
" But we'll work together for most of the time. And trust me we aren't the only victors there are plenty more, but you can only have so many right?" Amethyst explains.
"Of course" I reply happily, I need to be kind so I can get as much information as possible from her, she is my key to victory.
"When do we start? Marvel asks.
"Right now, if you'd like"answers Leather.
We travel to the next cart which has four blue clothed round chairs.
"Take a seat" Amethyst insists.
I sit down and am lost in sudden comfort like I have never felt before. the chair sinks me in the cushion as if falling into a cloud of cotton.
Leather starts the conversation and asks us. "So what weapons are you best with."
I butt in before Marvel even thinks about speaking. " I'm best really with a bow and arrow and occasionally a sword."
"That's great those will come in handy in the arena, and you Marvel?"
" I'm an expert with a spear mainly, but rarely you could see me with knifes."
"So that will be helpful information for us, to make this process more simple" says Amy. "And know that you two will be careers right, along with district two and possibly four."
" So that gives you a huge advantage because you have the most training, which puts you at the front of the curb."
"Great" I respond with a smile.
" Would you like to watch the reapings, so you can know your competition?"Amethyst asks.
" All of them? Sure." Marvel says, pleased.
There is a screen covered wall to my right, and to my left, a pocket sized projector.
Within a second, there is a quick flash and the district two town square appears.
Their district announcer, Matrina Demoire, was dressed in all blue from head to toe, and the children all look so excited for the results.
I don't know if the girl volunteered, I wasn't paying attention, but she was petite, yet she looked like she had a storm brewing inside of her, an excellent career.
The boy did volunteer, he was very handsome, he had blonde hair and a sharp eyes, he looked deadly. Good.
District three wasn't impressive. District four had a weak girl and a young boy, they won't be with the careers. Then district five had this cunning fox-faced girl. Then passed six, seven, eight was boring, nine, ten, and then came eleven.
Eleven had a small twelve year old and a hunky older boy, interesting mix.
Eventually we reached district twelve. the a twelve year old was chosen, until her sister volunteered for her, she's soft, which makes me want to kill her right now, I wish her good luck.
The boy seemed okay, but kind of wimpy.
I purse my lips in the pursuit of thought, this year I shouldn't have too many issues.
"So what do you guys think?" Amethyst asks, she does most of the talking.
" Cool, good, at least now we have an idea of what were up against, which isn't much really" Marvel adds.
" Yes this year should be fairly simple" says Leather.
"Now let's get started on some survival skills, shall we?"
