He stood at the sidelines, surveying the mess. The kids ran over themselves, trying to get away-- only to be sprung upon by the officers.
He only watched, his hands lingering at his side to where his gun hung on her belt.
"Officer," the word floated through your lips, quietly and shaking.
The man paid no attention, his dark hair swept across his eyes. He brought out his silvery restraints, taking wide strides towards the group.
"Put your hands behind your back-- anything you say will and can be held against you."
You took steps-- almost feeling awkwardly drawn to him by force.
A cold, cold machine touched the back of your head. "Don't move," your boss hissed.
"You move, you die." He added, slowly. "Officers!" He called, "release those renegades."
The man turned, his eyes catching onto yours immediately. He approached, slowly, leaving the restrained ones with another nearby officer.
His uniform's badge shone in the station's light. "I'm Judal. What is your name?"
Another pulled out his gun. "Drop the weapon!"
You wheezed out your name, softly, palms sweating from nervousness. You almost blacked out in fear.
A soft glowing light shone in his chest, and he looked down in wonder before back at you. "Put that gun down," he grabbed his own weapon and slowly approached you.
"No way-- y-you drop it first or I'll pull the trigger!"
"Sorry, I can't do that--"
"Duck!"
On instinct, you dropped to your knees and grabbed your knees to your chest. As you did, there was a loud shot in the air.
Another pulled you to your feet, guiding you away from the noise. A muffled scream came later. "I can't believe you shot him--"
Your eyes widened, mouth dropping. You almost collapsed onto your knees again, shivering in your shoes.
"It's okay, it'll be okay." He repeated, over and over again.
"Oh my god."
"Let's just get you away from here, come--" His voice dripped in a foreign accent.
...
"Are you okay?" He covered your hands with his larger ones, warm and comforting.
"I'm healing." You responded, happily, cozying up to him on the warm leather couch in his apartment.
"I cannot believe I found you there-- in the middle of that mess," he confessed, dipping his head, his necklace swinging from his neck as he did.
"I know, I know." You shivered, just remembering that night.
"I'm sorry you saw that, darling." His voice dripped in honeyed accent.
"Yeah." You tightened your hand around his.
"You will be alright, you are dating a police officer." He laughed. "Are you hungry? Do you want to eat?"
"Oh, but I don't want to get up," you groaned.
"I'll make something for you, honey." He kissed the top of your hand, letting it drop from his hands.
"I won't be a minute long," he promised, taking light steps towards the kitchen.
end.
