Chapter 10: The Promised Battle!

Narrator: As we last left our Heroes, Bonnie talked to her brother, Clement and Clement was quite impressed of his sister's abilities when she started her journey. He also saw Ash, Serena, and Tireno and promises to cheer Serena for her upcoming debut as a Coordinator.

Dawn contacted Ash and told him that she was in Hoenn, mostly for the Contest.

Max interrupts their conversation as he challenge Ash to a Pokémon Battle which he accepts.

What will their battle be like?

Ash

Wow, it has been a while since I had a Pokémon Battle since I finished my Journey with Clement, Serena and Bonnie, travelling in the Kalos Region.

As our battle was about to be begin, Tireno, Serena and Bonnie saw us in the Pokémon Battlefield.

"Hey, what's going on here?" Tireno asks. Bonnie squeals with excitement, "It's a Pokémon Battle against Max and Ash!"

Serena asks, "Why would Max challenge Ash to a battle for?"

"Let's just say I made a promise to Max since I last saw him in the Hoenn Region." I replied to Serena's question.

Bonnie said, "All right, this is going to be great! Good luck to both teams!"

Max

This is the moment I had waited for: A chance to battle Ash!

"Ralts, I choose you!" I yelled, throwing out my partner's Pokeball.

Ash said, "You're going with Ralts, huh? Check this Pokémon out! Hawlucha, come on out!"

The Pokémon came out as I was amazed. "Whoa, so that is one of your Kalos Pokémon, right?"

Ash nods, "Yeah, and he's quite a battler. Hawlucha, this is the ring for the day."

"Hawlucha, use X-Scissors!" Ash commanded.

"Dodge it, Ralts!" I said and then I commanded, "Quick, use Psychic!"

Ash said, "Aw, no you don't! Use Karate Chop on Ralts!"

The attack was fast and I was stunned.

"Oh, wow! Ash, you never cease to amaze me with your battling style!"

Ash smiles as he said, "It's been a while I battled with a friend."

Serena said, "Go, Ash!"

"I wouldn't go easy on you, Ash!" I said.

"Yeah, me too!" He replies then someone said, "Well, Ash, you haven't change a bit!"

We turned to see a blue-haired girl and her Piplup.

"Whoa, Dawn, you're here!" Ash exclaimed.

"Well, you didn't reply in your Pokegear, so I figured I would try to track you down."

Hawlucha waited for Ash's command.

"Ash, just finish the battle. I'm so sorry I interrupted." Dawn said.

Dawn

I decided to surprise Ash since I figured he is in Littleroot Town Pokémon Center.

Ash was battling May's little brother, Max. He seemed a little bit older than May describe him when she told us back in the Wallace Cup.

I turned to the girl next to me. She had honey-short hair and her attire was nothing I ever seen before.

"I never seen you before. I'm Dawn. I used to travel with Ash in the Sinnoh Region. And this is my #1 partner, Piplup. Say hi." I introduce myself.

Piplup does his brave and proud face. The girl besides her said, "Your Piplup reminds me of my brother's Pokémon, Chespin. He really likes to show off. I'm Bonnie by the way and this is my partners, Dedenne and Squishy."  

"I'm Serena, and this is Tireno. We all came from the Kalos Region." Serena explains.

Tireno added, "We're friends of Ash's when he travelled to the Kalos Region."

"Well, Bonnie, Clement and I did, but Tireno was Ash's rival in the Kalos League." Serena said.

"Hawlucha, use Aerial Ace on Ralts now!" Ash commanded.

Ralts was unable to battle and Max yelled, "Ralts! You ok?"

Ralts nods and hugs his trainer. "Man, what a relief."

Ash said, "Ok, Hawlucha, return!"

Then Pikachu ran from Ash and come towards Piplup and began playing with each other to catch up.

"So, guys, this is Dawn. She was once my traveling companions in my Journeys."

"Ash, you told me in your Pokegear that you're here to support a friend."

Serena asks, "You told her about me?"

"Well, sort of, Ser. I didn't exactly mention that to her yet until the debut."

I was confused. "What you talking about, Ash?"

"You'll see. No need to worry." Ash laughs, remembering our motto.

I rolled my eyes, " That is when I worry the most."

I saw Brock, "Brock, how's the Pokémon Doctor life?"

"Oh, busy!" He replies, "But I was stunned to see Ash and Gary here in Hoenn. How about I cook dinner tonight? My shift is over."

Serena's stomach growls. "Good idea."

Max cheered, "Brock to the rescue!"

We ate and Ash said, "Serena and I actually knew each other way back before I met you and Brock. Gary, Serena and I went to Professor Oak's summer Camp and she injured her knee while she was scared by a Poilywag."

"Yeah, but when we reunited back in Kalos, you didn't recognize me one bit." Serena points out, laughing.  

Ash was embarrassed while we all laugh.

"That is so Ash." I replied, "So, you competed in the Kalos League and won?"

"Up to the Finals, but Alain was strong." Bonnie explains.

Suddenly the Pokegear started to bling. It was news about the Contest.

"Attention Coordinators, the Contest held in Littleroot Town will start tomorrow evening. Make sure you get plenty of rest and good luck!"

"Well, there is no time to waste. Come on, Piplup."

What I didn't know that I had met my rival.

Narrator: As Ash and Max finished their promised battle, Dawn suddenly surprise our Heroes and was introduced to Serena, Bonnie and Tireno.

Dawn also saw a familiar face, Brock who just finished his shift as a Pokémon Doctor and learns about the Contest held in Littleroot Town is just around the corner.

Will Serena know that May is the Princess of Hoenn?
