Verging

Chapter 1

One of those days it was a sunny and warm day and it made everyone in the orphanage a little glad too. Then all of a sudden we received a phone call, after the nuns hung up they ran everywhere and told everyone it was a miracle day and God sent amazing parents to come and adopt one of us and they had said that they were leaving with a child no matter what.I obviously didn't care because I had already wasted what people call childhood with a blade and my skin. I had already been on the verge of death plenty of times, I mean I didn't have anyone who cared. The nuns always said that they loved us very very much and God was the one who loved us the most. Anyway's, once Mr. and Mrs. Tristory arrived we all got in a line one and the kids said their name and me being last said my name with care at all but I still had my manners, "Hi, I'm Madeleine." I said and held a hand out for a shake. "Hello Madeleine nice to meet you, In Jennifer Tristory." I guess Mrs. Tristory seemed... nice. She shook me hand, but observed I had a lot and a couple recent cuts down my rist. She didn't really have an expression on her face she just seemed like she was higher category than me. I then immediately pulled my hand from hers and looked at Mr. Tristory so he can greet himself. "Hi nice to meet you Madeleine, I'm Ben" Mr. Tristory said and shook my hand also, but there was something a little odd about Mr. Tristory. Then they bothed smiled which almost changed my mind about their first impression, but didn't. After that the husband and wife, I guess, and the head nun went into a room for about 45 minutes. When they came out they said they had made a decision on what child they were going to choose. They started trimming down the number of kids to only girls and then 15 and older, then I was left with 5 other girls who I hated the most they were complete bitches. I never knew why I hated them its probably because of their straight blonde hair and blue eyes ... My thoughts were interrupted when Ben said, "Madeleine" I was startled and I didn't think they chose me so I asked with a confused face what they said my name for, "Madeleine what ?" Jennifer then bursted out laughing, it was a... fake laugh but everyone believed it except me. I looked even more confused now. My thoughts were cleared up when she said ,"Your coming home with us..." I guess she had finally realized that I wasn't joking and I was obviously confused of what they had said my name for.
