This torturing has been going on for three days now. I still haven't told them anything. I'm starting to doubt myself though. I don't know how much longer I can keep this up.
The door opens and a different Huror comes in. He unbuckles my neck, my waist, my feet, then my hands. And immediately grabs ahold of my wrists and holds them behind my back.
"Where are we going?" I ask.
"There is a battle raging on at the moment. We're afraid they'll burn down this tower, so we're moving the prisoners underground. We have to go outside to get to the underground dungeons, so don't even think about escaping." He replies.
"Where are the other prisoners?" I ask.
"Uh, well, you're the only one." He says.
We go outside, onto the balcony, and sure enough, there is a giant battle going on. And the 'enemy' is the arena-masters. They're wearing the same armour, at least. So the arena-masters are fighting against the Huror? For what? I stop and watch for a minute or two, before the Huror urges us on.
Quinlan's POV
Alexandra has been missing for three days now. I am worried sick. What if the Huror have captured her? What if they're torturing her? I did send her that message just in case though. So maybe they'll set her free.
I had to go look for her. I had to go find her. I had to go save her. What if she was already dead? What if she was hurt? What if she was lost, injured, in the cold?
I stood up and started pacing. Thorald, my brother, walked into the room. "Quinlan. Relax. She could just be hiding-" "Yes, but she could also be dieing!" I cut him off. "Quinlan. Such thoughts will only make things worse... I'll ride out with you. To search for her." Thorald says. "You would do that for me?" I ask and grip his forearms. "Of course." He replies. I immediately walk outside and start preparing for our search.
Alexandra's POV
We walk along the balcony edge for a bit, until I hear a faint crackling somewhere off in the distance. The Huror doesn't hear it, so we keep walking. We're only two stories high, but it looks a lot farther than it really is. Anyways- my thoughts are cut off, when we're blown off the tower by a explosion.
I couldn't really process anything that happened until I hit the ground. I heard my ribs crack again and I screamed. The Huror was about 10 ft to my right, unconscious. This is my chance to escape! None of the warriors had seen me yet.
I slowly sat up, holding my ribs with my left arm. My right arm hung limp by my side. I felt sick by the sight. My bone had broken into a shard, and had pierced through my skin. Kind of like Quinlan's arm. I wonder how Quinlan is... I hope he doesn't try to look for me... I wouldn't want him risking his life for me.
I stood up painfully and tried to run into the forest, away from the battle. I got to the cover of the woods, but kept running, or trying to run. I let go of my ribs, and instead held my arm, because it was more painful when being bounced around. I was so far into the forest now that I couldn't even hear the sounds of the battle.
My stomach was growling. I was so hungry that it physically hurt. My throat was parched. It felt like it was slowly ripping every time I swallowed. I found a tree with moss on it, and sucked some moisture out of it. It wasn't enough to really do anything though. I peeled some bark off that tree and ate it. No, it wasn't tasty. But it was eatable, so it would have to do. And don't tell me I should eat bugs... that's just gross...
I finished my meal of tree bark and moss moisture and moved on. I stopped after a while though because I was tired, and it was getting dark. I managed to grab a few logs with my left hand and drag them onto a fallen tree, to make a fort-ish thing. I also grabbed quite a bit of Spanish moss and first, covered the logs to create insulation, second, layed it on the ground to create a bed. I also covered myself in it, trying to keep warm.
I was so pitiful. I was so lost. I was injured. Laying in the cold. Wait... I sat up, grabbed some more moss and casted my arm and my ribs. I layed back down and fell into a deep sleep.
Upon waking, I noticed that I was wet. I crawled outside my fort into the rain. Wolves howled in the distance. I wrecked my fort so nobody could track me down, then set off again. After an hour or so, I decided to climb a tree. To see which way I should be going. I should be able to see the Lothandra tree's from here...
I grabbed onto the first branch with my left hand and hauled myself up. I landed on my feet. I kept doing that all the way up the tree, knowing that if I didn't land correctly, or my hand slipped, I would most likely be dead by the time I reached the ground. But I would also be dead if I had no sense of direction and wandered around the forest for weeks.
I got to the thinner branches and had to use a different technique to avoid breaking the branches. It was like a one handed chin up, but instead of stopping at the chin, you lifted your whole body up until you could stand on the branch with your feet. As you can imagine, this is very hard to do. I usually do it with both my hands. It also takes a lot of balance.
When I finally did get to the top, I could see everything. Lothandra was to the north, about a two day walk from here. I started my climb back down. Down always being easier. As soon as I got to the ground, I started my trek north.
