Josh and Tobi's friendship with Reader

"Do you mind checking the shelf in my closet?" I ask Tobi as I sift through the junk in my desk drawers, looking for more batteries for my extra Xbox One controller, as I've lost the rechargeable one long ago. "Sure thing," I hear him answer and get up from his seat at my desk. I open another drawer and move things around, continuing my search.

A moment later I am torn from my task as I hear Tobi ask, "Hey, what's all this?" I turn my head and see Tobi sitting on the floor in the entrance to my closet, a box sitting open in front of him. "Oh, that's the box my mum sent me. She was cleaning out the desk in my old room. Something about wanting to use it for her office. I haven't really had a chance to.go through it yet," I explain as I walk over, taking a seat in front of him, the box now between us.

I reach in and pull out the first thing I touch, which just so happens to be a photo album. Curious,I flip open the front cover, and I'm instantly hit with a feeling of nostalgia as I see a photo of 14-year-old me with my arm around the shoulders of 12-year-old Tobi. I smile and show him. He gets excited and eagerly takes the photo album from my hands, peering at the pictures and pointing out things that are different, such as my lack of a beard.

I move to sit next to him so we can both look at the same time. He flips to the next page and at the same time we both suck in a breath as we stare down at the picture. In this picture, again I see me and Tobi, only this time there's someone else in the picture, smiling real wide, her H/C hair flowing behind her as the wind softly ruffles through. E/C eyes shining bright, as if she couldn't be happier. "Y/N," I breathe out.

In the picture we were all standing in front of our school, our uniforms brand new as it was the first day. We were what everyone called the "Three Musketeers" because we were always seen together. It was rare to see one without the other two either with them or close by. We even got all of our classes together, thanks to Y/N's persuasion skills. I suppose it also doesn't hurt that she was one of the principal's favorite students.

I am brought out of my slight daze as Tobi turns to the next page. This one has all of us in various places, like a collage of sorts: Us in the bowling alley on my birthday, us in the gaming room at Y/N's old house, screaming at the TV as we played Call of Duty, us in Tobi's room, studying for exams, us playing football in the garden, and many many more.

I reach over and flip to the next page, wanting to see more, only to get choked up at the sight before me. The picture is of us, standing in front of Y/N's completely boxed up bedroom. She was going to Uni in America. We had just finished packing when her mum came in, slightly tearful at the thought of her only child going off to Uni. She decided she needed one more photo of the three of us before Y/N left.

"Oh mother, don't you have enough photos already? You've taken so many I don't know how you're going to fit them all into just one photo album," Y/N complains.

"Oh hush. One of these days you're going to look back at all these photos and you're going to wish I had taken more," her mum counters.

"More?! Honestly, woman, I don't even know how you got some of the pictures we've seen in that camera of yours. Sometimes I think you actually hired someone to stalk us."

Tobi takes this moment to pipe in, "Yeah like that picture of Josh and Y/N coming out of the movie theater. I still think that was a date."

Y/N and I both roll our eyes. "Please, you and I both know the only reason you didn't come was because you had to study for that exam you missed while you were sick," I point out.

Tobi looks away while waving his hand through the air, as if to completely dismiss what I said. "Excuses, excuses."

"Alright, that's it!" I then tackle him to the ground and pin him down as Y/N follows my lead. We then begin to tickle him.

Suddenly we hear a snap and a flash goes off and we all stop, groaning as we realize Y/N's mum took another picture.

I remember my mum waking me up in the middle of the night. She had tears in her eyes as she told me what happened. On the ride to America, Y/N's plane had an engine blow out, and the plane went down over the Atlantic. The plane sank. Y/N's body was never recovered. Tobi and I were devestated. The rest of the Sidemen don't even know about her, as we could never bring ourselves to talk about her.

I look at Tobi and he meets my gaze. I give him a small smile, which he weakly returns. No words are said, for they aren't needed. We already know what each other are feeling. Sadness. Grief. Loss. But yet, at the same time, we have closure. We look each other in the eyes and give each other a small nod. And together, we close the book.
