An hour or two later Ben woke up in the State Hospital with Jane and the kids at his bedside. She hugged him and gave him a kiss on the lips; she still had tears in her eyes.
"The news said that you were dead," cried Jane, "even the Chief of Police showed up at the house."
Ben slowly sat up and looked at Jane.
"I really wish they wouldn't do that," sighed Ben as he rubbed his chest where one of the bullets went through, "How's Wolf and Jackson?"
Jane looked at him and grasped his hand and that's when Ben knew that one of them was dead and was hoping it wasn't Wolf.
"Wolf is fine but Jackson... he died in the ambulance, his injuries were too much for him," she replied "apparently he was pretty beaten up, barely recognizable".
Ben wanted to see his partner so a doctor put his right arm in a sling and let him into Wolf's room. As he walked in he looked at Wolf's condition; his face was covered in stitches, his left leg was in a brace and he had bandages around his chest.
"Hey buddy, how you doing?" asked Ben as he sat next to Wolf's bed.
Wolf smiled and slowly sat up.
"Not bad, I have a small fracture in my leg, four fractured ribs, two shot wounds one was only a scrape, and thirty-two stitches in my face," replied Wolf "How's Jackson?"
Ben sighed and thought of a decent way to say it.
"He... he died in the ambulance," replied Ben "Look, as soon as we get out of here I'm going to speak to the 12th Precinct and see if they can lend us a hand, we will find who is responsible."
Wolf was still pretty shaken up from the attack and Ben could see it, Wolf's hands were shaking really bad.
"How are you?" asked Wolf,
"One shot wound to the right shoulder, one to the chest, couple of stitches in my head and the shot to my wrist, just missed a main artery," replied Ben.
Ben and Wolf were kept in overnight but as soon as they were released, they were on the case. Ben drove Wolf to the massacred 13th Precinct to look for any leads. When they arrived the Beverly Hills Crime Scene Unit was there and so were two Detectives from the 12th precinct. As Ben and Wolf walked in they tried to pull themselves together, Ben especially.
"You ok?" asked Wolf as he put his hand on his partner's shoulder.
"All these people... innocent cops living their everyday lives, most had families and helped me though the death of Spence, we're all that's left Wolf," explained Ben.
Wolf limped away to speak to the Detectives, Ben looked around the crime scene for anything that could help. Due to the nature of the crime, none of the bodies had been moved yet. Ben knelt down beside one of his friends who ended up with a clean shot to the heart. He undid the cop's shirt to have a better look at the shot when he discovered that he was wearing his bullet-proof vest.
"Shit," gasped Ben really loud "Wolf you have to see this, this was no random attack."
Wolf limped over to Ben and knelt down as best he could.
"What is it?" asked Wolf,
"Armor Piercing Rounds," replied Ben as he held up a shell "these guys knew what they were doing; they knew we'd be wearing our bullet-proof vests and it was all clean shooting, through the head or through the heart."
"We've got ourselves some Cop Killers," added Wolf.
CSU walked up to Ben and Wolf and handed them a file,
