The next day, friends and family of the 113 cops that died in the 13th precinct massacre gathered at the memorial park; Ben, Wolf, Jacobi, Seeley, Bryan, Captain Warner and even David Jenkins.

Ben stood near the monument that had been built in memory of the 13th precinct. It had names of all 113 cops engraved on it. He was hugging Jane as the Chief of Police made a speech; Ben was up next and had spent the whole night thinking it over. Once the Chief of Police finished Ben slowly stood up and walked over to the stand. He stood there for a few minutes, trying to pull himself together.

"To those of you who don't know I'm Detective Sergeant Ben Starsky, and I'm one of the two people that survived the massacre, my partner Detective Sergeant Wolf Bourdon was the other. My dad, Lieutenant Eric Starsky once said to me that a cop's instincts can be both useful and deadly. Sometimes our instincts are what get us killed but sometimes they save our lives. He also said that a precinct is like a family; they help you though the toughest of times, you fight and argue and you stand by one another no matter how hairy the situation is and that's what all the cops at this precinct did. These 113 cops shouldn't have gone down the way they did; many of them I knew when I was in the academy. Today when you go home, don't mourn their deaths, celebrate what they did in their lives, whether it was raising a family, saving others, or something as simple as helping a friend. To anyone who may be alone, talk with others, don't bottle it up inside. The last thing I have to say is; that I tried to save these men and women and failed, there was nothing I could do but I wish there was. For that I apologize to every family and friend here.... Thank you," explained Ben as he stepped down and walked back over to Jane and hugged her.

After the service Ben stood on his own by the monument; he was in very deep thought and didn't notice David standing beside him with the Marshals not far behind.

"A source of mine in prison, he knows a guy who works in the infirmary at the prison that Marcus is at. He says that Marcus admitted to Spencer's wife's murder," explained David, "I'll give you the guy's name and prisoner number if you need more than my word."

Ben looked at him then held out his hand, offering a handshake. David shook Ben's hand and smiled a bit.

"I can never apologize enough for what I've done to you," explained Ben, "all I can do is make things right, I'm talking to a judge tomorrow about putting you on probation because of your sight and I know a guy who said that he may be able to give you about forty percent of your eyesight back."

David took his sunglasses off,

"Thank you Starsky," replied David as he walked back over to the Marshals.

Wolf watched from a distance as Ben walked over to another headstone; it was Spencer's. Ben knelt down and stayed silent for a few minutes, he finally caught the man responsible for his death. The more he thought about it the more it brought him to tears, Spencer died trying to do the right thing...he was bringing a dirty cop to justice.

An hour later Ben and Wolf were in the car heading back to Ben's,

"Can I ask what David said to you?" asked Wolf nervously,

Ben sighed and smiled a bit.

"He told me that Marcus admitted to killing Spencer's wife," replied Ben, "Could you do me a favor tonight?"

Wolf nodded,

"Jane and I are going out tonight for our 13th wedding anniversary and I was wondering if you would look after the boys tonight?" asked Ben.

Wolf nodded and smiled,

"Sure, Braydon could use the company," replied Wolf.

Later that night Ben and Jane were at a hotel, they'd booked a suite for the night and they were enjoying the hot tub together.

"I loved your speech today, it was very sweet and I'm sure the families thought so too, both Spencer and Eric would be very proud of you," explained Jane as she began to kiss him on the lips, "but I have some news..."

Jane trailed off as she continued kissing him,

"What news... would that be?" asked Ben as he held her close,

"Ben..."

She looked up at him and their eyes met.

"I'm...Pregnant."

Ben's eyes widened and he had a really shocked look on his face,

"Fuck..."

To be continued...
