Chapter 9: Lies

1 month later...

12th Precinct...

Ben, Wolf, Jacobi and recovering Bryan were standing in Captain Warner's office on their first day back at work since David's arrest at the abandoned warehouse.

"Boy's I spoke with Lieutenant Seeley Adams, He wants SWAT and B-CATT to work together," explained Warner, "And with Jackson still on the streets it would be a good idea so I've assigned Seeley to your team for this case. He's in the Special Tactics Squad room if you want to talk with him."

Though it had been a month since David's arrest they hadn't been able to pin the 13th Precinct massacre on him. They couldn't pin any of the murders on him. David was in lock up because of the attempted murder on Ben, Wolf, Jacobi, Bryan, Seeley and a lot of firefighters and SWAT.

"You guys go see Seeley, I'm going to get David brought over for interrogation," explained Ben as he walked off.

Half an hour later, Ben was sitting in the interrogation room with David opposite him.

"So David why'd you have the whole 13th Precinct killed, if it was revenge on me you wanted why not just have me killed?" asked Ben.

David took his sunglasses off and revealed the damage done to his eyes.

"Look, I know where you're going on this; I'm not the guy you're looking for. I arrange deals not hits," replied David, "I know you blame me for your partner's death but it wasn't me."

Ben looked at him,

"How could it not be you, every bit of evidence from my partner's wife's murder points to you?" asked Ben as he slammed his fists on the table.

David sat there in deep thought for a few minutes,

"I will tell you one thing and one thing only, my boss wants you dead, he's the one who set the hit on your partner's wife and he was the one who caused the death of your dad," explained David, "Now until you have something new to blame on me, don't come back to talk to me."

Ben went back into the squad room to talk with Wolf, Bryan, Jacobi and Seeley about the case, so far they'd hit a lot of dead ends.

David would now be taken to prison.

"Ben you will never understand what you took from me," yelled David.

Ben sat back and looked at Wolf, he knew David was right.

"Can you do me a favor, get David's sunglasses and give them to the technical division; I want to know how he could shoot that well."

Jacobi almost flew out of his seat.

"I'm an idiot," explained Jacobi, "David's boss was right under our noses."

Bryan handed Ben and Wolf a file, Ben looked at the file in shock and couldn't believe what he was reading.

"It...was Jackson all along, I can't believe it, 19 years I've been on the force and my boss was the one responsible for everything," gasped Ben.

Jacobi sat back down and flicked though the file,

"Here's another catch that explains why Jackson went through so much trouble to protect David and the fact you thought he killed your partner... Jackson's real name is Marcus Jenkins... David's twin brother," explained Jacobi.

For Ben everything was now connecting, it explained Jackson's behavior the night of the raid one and a half years back.

"Any idea where he might be?" asked Wolf,
