"It... keeps playing in my head, that conversation I had with Spence on the roof, did I say something wrong or was there something I could have said... something that could have prevented that jump," cried Ben.
Jane sighed a bit and hugged him tighter,
"It wasn't your fault, you need to stop blaming yourself for Spencer's death," explained Jane, "Come to bed, you've got a case to solve tomorrow."
Ben stood up and followed Jane to bed.
The next morning, Ben woke up to find himself lying naked in bed next to Jane.
"And they say alcohol is bad for you," chuckled Ben to himself.
Ben got up, showered and got dressed then sat at the kitchen table for a bit. Jane and the kids walked in half an hour later, the kids sat at the table while Jane made breakfast. Ben pulled apart his gun (as best he could with his injuries) to clean it and replace the batteries in the flashlight attachment.
"You're normally gone by now, what's going on today?" asked Jane.
"Wolf and I aren't in a rush, we don't have to meet the 12th precinct's Captain until ten," replied Ben as he fiddled to put his gun back together, "I have to leave a bit early I need to pick up Wolf, he can't drive with the brace on his leg."
After saying goodbye to the family Ben drove to Wolf's. When he arrived he knocked on the door, Wolf's son Braydon answered.
"How's my godson today," asked Ben as he walked in,
Braydon hugged Ben and smiled; though he was nine Braydon was very quiet for his age and didn't talk very often.
"Where's your dad?" asked Ben,
"In bed still," replied Braydon.
Ben went upstairs to wake up his partner,
"Hey Wolf get your lazy ass up," yelled Ben as he opened the bedroom door, he saw Wolf on top of Jackie, "Oh shit! Wolf put some clothes on," gasped Ben as he covered his eyes and closed the door.
Ben turned around and saw Braydon,
"Can you go downstairs please?" asked Ben.
Wolf opened the door slightly,
"You're early," replied Wolf,
"Not interrupting am I?" asked Ben with a smile on his face, trying not to laugh, "and I hope that behind that door you have some clothes on."
Wolf smiled,
"I'll be down in 5," replied Wolf as he closed the door.
When Wolf came down stairs he found Ben and Braydon fighting over the box of cereal, Braydon was winning due to Ben only having one available arm. Wolf looked at his partner funny,
"Didn't Jane feed you?" asked Wolf.
"Yeah but when you have three kids the cereal disappears like candy and I'm usually left with crumbs or an empty box," replied Ben as he munched on a spoonful, "and I kinda' had a bit to drink last night so my appetite is through the roof."
Wolf stared at Ben for a few minutes,
"In the two years I've known you I've never seen you touch alcohol," explained Wolf as he put the carton of milk in the fridge.
"That's because I don't drink, the last time I did was when I worked undercover after Spencer's death. Alcohol almost killed my marriage," replied Ben.
