Half an hour later they were all back at the precinct trying to piece together what happened. Bryan was sitting in a chair massaging his shoulder that was injured when he was thrown into the side of the car. Wolf was sitting down also holding an ice pack on the side of his head while Jacobi bandaged up Ben's ribs. They all had minor cuts from glass and debris when it went flying.

"I haven't the faintest clue as to what the hell is going on," explained Ben in pain, "Wolf did you see the other suspect in the roof?"

Wolf shook his head slowly,

"Nope, when I went up there I couldn't find him, he must have hid in the shadows until he clubbed me in the head, how's the suspect?" asked Wolf as he felt the swelling on the side of the face.

"I'm meant to be getting a call from the hospital on his condition," replied Ben, "none of this makes sense, let's assume the suspect in the roof was also one of the intruders who attacked me, and let's assume he was the one who stabbed the guy in hospital. Why attack your own team?"

"I don't know Ben, I think we should all rest up and start fresh tomorrow," replied Wolf.

Jacobi practically jumped out of his seat.

"I know why he attacked his own team," explained Jacobi, "Work with me on this, the guy in hospital knows something vital and the other suspect must have known we were heading to the house so he attempted to kill the guy and wire the place to destroy the evidence... and us."

"That's a fucking thin line to walk on but you could be right," replied Ben, "you should go to the hospital, if this guy does know something then it's possible the other suspect might come back to finish the job."

Ben drove home to spend time with the family; he'd been at work for over 26 hours and he was pretty worn out. When he walked in the door the kids came running up to him,

"Careful boys, dad's still sore," explained Ben as he hugged them.

Jane walked up to Ben and hugged him; she noticed the small cuts on the right side of his face and how fast he tensed when she hugged his ribs,

"These cuts are fresh, what happened?" asked Jane with concern, "have you hurt your ribs again?"

They sat at the kitchen table and Ben explained what happened in his 26 hour day. After explaining, Ben began to think over the whole case, it seemed that no matter what they did the bad guys were always one step ahead and have been since the attack on the 13th precinct, Ben thought back to the beginning of the day, before the attack happened. When he and Wolf were in Jackson's office, Ben remembered seeing Jackson quickly hide a file under some papers; that file being the same one they received from CSU about the series of attacks on other precincts.

Jane sat opposite Ben and looked at him,

"Why would Jackson keep a very urgent case file to himself and not hand it to Wolf and I the morning it was meant to go to us, what was he hiding?" asked Ben as he repositioned his gun holster.

Jane stood up, lent over the table and kissed him,

"You'll work it out," replied Jane, "You always do."

It finally hit Ben all the pieces fit; he stood up, kissed Jane and the kids and did a half-assed run to his car. As he was driving he rang Wolf,

"Have you heard anything from Jacobi?" asked Ben as he held his ribs and tried to catch his breath,

"Yeah the guy is fine and in recovery," replied Wolf, "Why do you sound like you've ran a marathon?"

"Hey, you try and run with mending ribs," replied Ben, "Meet me at the 13th precinct, bring Bryan and Jacobi."
