Wolf tensed up a bit as David got closer with the knife,
"Don't worry, you're so drugged up you probably won't even feel it," explained David.
"Leave... him," moaned Ben as he tried to lift his head off the floor.
David turned and walked over to Ben,
"Well isn't your partner lucky, any longer and he'd be missing limbs," explained David, "Your other friends weren't as lucky."
Ben looked at David in shock and spat a lot of blood out his mouth along with one of his molars,
"What did you do to them?" asked Ben as he fiddled with the rope his hands were tied with.
"If you want to be technical, I didn't do anything, Jackson did all the work but I believe he threw Bryan out the third story window. The SWAT teams fell through the first floor, and are most likely seriously injured or dead from the fall at the bottom of the basement. As for Jacobi, Jackson has gone down to deal with him," replied David as he picked up Ben's gun from the floor.
"Let's settle all this now then," snapped Ben, "Untie me so I can kick your head in."
David laughed a bit,
"I'm afraid I can't Ben, you see, you and I are going to play a game to see how much you value your partner's life," replied David as he sat in a chair near Ben.
"You think playing with people's lives is a game?" asked Ben,
David stayed quiet for a few minutes then spoke,
"Did you think my life was a game when you shot those canisters?" asked David as he fiddled with his cane.
Ben sat up then looked at David, what Ben did to him hit him a lot harder than he thought.
"I wasn't meant to shoot that canister, my vision was blurry and I thought you were standing there, I also didn't think you survived the explosion," replied Ben, "I was really angry that day, Jackson booted me off the case and all I wanted was my revenge on you, you were the cause of my partner's death."
"You are what made me like this; it's your fault that everyone from the 13th Precinct is dead, and you're the reason all your friends will soon be dead," yelled David as he threw Ben's gun, landing close to Wolf's feet.
Ben was getting close to breaking free of the ropes but wasn't sure if he could do it in time, David was getting anxious and it wouldn't be long before he decided to kill them both.
"David you don't need to end it like this, let us go and we'll settle this some other day," explained Ben.
"Ben you still don't get it, do you? You should have stayed without a partner, how are you going to break it to his family that his death was your fault?" asked David,
David was starting to eat at Ben's fears,
"Ben don't listen to him... he's... he's messing with your head," moaned Wolf as he looked at Ben.
Ben noticed the look on Wolf's face then noticed the gun by Wolf's feet, he had a plan.
"David I'm giving you a chance to walk away from all of this," explained Ben as he tried to stall David from killing them,
David walked over to Ben,
"You see Ben I intend on walking away, but after what you've done to me I'm not walking away without some payback, a limb sounds fair," explained David as he pulled out his hunting knife again.
Ben broke free of the ropes and held out his hand toward Wolf,
"Now Wolf!" yelled Ben,
Wolf kicked the gun to Ben; it slid across the floor and landed in his hand.
"How 'bout I give you a limp," replied Ben as he shot David in the side pf his left knee.
David dropped to the ground holding his knee; Ben stood up and cuffed David's hands behind his back then walked over to Wolf and untied him.
When they got outside, police put David into a highly secure ambulance, Ben and Wolf couldn't believe the damage toll, so many people were injured. Seeley and the two SWAT guys who fell through the floor were being loaded into ambulances. Ben went over to another ambulance that had Jacobi in it, he'd been shot and it was pretty close to the heart,
"Jacobi, how are you?" asked Ben.
"They killed him, they killed Bryan," moaned Jacobi as he went unconscious.
Ben walked over to paramedics who were carefully moving Bryan onto a back board, he looked real bad.
"Is he..." asked Ben
A paramedic looked at him,
"He's alive, barely, we're going to fly him," explained the paramedic.
An hour later Ben and Wolf were sitting in the waiting room with their families, including Bryan's wife and son. Seeley came limping down the hallway with his right arm in a sling and walked up to Ben.
"How are they?" asked Seeley,
Ben looked at him, they were lucky compared to Jacobi and Bryan. Ben had his ribs bandaged again and stitches to his face. Wolf had minor cuts and bruises and was guzzling bottles of water to clear the drugs out his system. Seeley's right clavicle was broken as well as a couple of ribs and a sprained ankle from the fall.
Ben was about to answer when the doctor came out of Bryan's room.
"How are they?" asked Ben as he held his right ribs a bit,
The doctor looked at him then at everyone else.
"Sergeant Matthews is stable, the bullet went through and through missing vital organs, you can see him if you want," explained the doctor, "Sergeant Jakobs is in critical condition, he's very lucky to be alive considering how far he fell. Judging from his injuries the paramedics think he hit the emergency stairs on the way down which may have also been what saved his life, the stairs broke the fall. A few of his ribs are broken, his left clavicle and wrist are fractured and he has a minor fracture in his skull."
Ben comforted Bryan's wife while Wolf went into see Jacobi.
Wolf opened the door and saw Jacobi sitting up in bed watching TV.
"How are you?" asked Wolf as he grabbed a chair and sat down,
Jacobi didn't say a word; he just had a sad look on his face.
"I have some good news, Bryan's alive, he's critical but things are looking good," explained Wolf.
Jacobi looked at him with shock
"H...How? He fell 3 floors onto solid concrete, I heard him hit the ground," gasped Jacobi.
"As scary as it may be, miracles do happen, I'm walking proof. You wouldn't think that 5 years ago I had no memory of knowing how to write, walk or much of my police training," explained Wolf,
"What happened?" asked Jacobi,
Wolf sighed a bit,
"Back in Phoenix, my partner and I were at a drug bust when it turned ugly, I turned to help my partner and got shot in the back of the head, my partner died saving my life," replied Wolf.
Wolf went back out to the waiting room and walked up to Ben, he didn't look happy,
"What's wrong?" asked Wolf,
"Jackson is still loose on the streets," replied Ben...
