Thomas' P.O.V
"There are two cages."

Felix stared at them as though I was stupid.

"Nothing can escape your perspicacity, can it?"

I rolled my eyes. "So you know sarcasm too! Isn't that fantastic?"

He just scoffed under his breath, though I could tell that, unlike Pan, Felix didn't completely loathe my presence. He seemed more of a loner, yet not a free-spirited one. He was just as caged as I would be within seconds.

Felix lowered one of the hanging cages by pulling down a rope, which was tied to a tree. Its door opened and I became increasingly aware of the small, stifling space it was.

"In you go, sharp one." Felix snickered, and I was pushed into the asphyxiating cage.

As the door was locked and Felix's footsteps faded away slowly, I couldn't help but wonder whether the other cage held another prisoner inside.

"Hello?" I spoke cautiously. "Is anybody in there?"

A few seconds passed by and I started to feel like an idiot. The other cage must have been empty, since not even someone's breathing, besides mine, could be heard.

"Yes" that single, tiny word sliced the silence like a sharp knife, its owner's voice coming out gentle and melodious.

Breath caught in my throat.

"What's your name?" I dared to ask again.

"I can't tell," the girl whispered with fear. "Or he will kill me."

The crocodile had not ceased to giggle and lay out intricate yet completely useless riddles during the whole way.

"Another one!" he sniggered while clapping his hands. He frowned, concentrating. Then he raised his head with a grin. "The more you have of it, the less you see."

I rolled my eyes, but couldn't help but wonder which was the answer.

"Well, what is it?" Rumplestiltskin raised an eyebrow and smirked.

I furrowed my brow, deep in thought. It could only be one thing. One thing I had come to know too well. One thing I had embraced and been embraced by.

"Darkness." I answered, barely above a whisper. "Just quit your stupid games, will you?"

"You're not the only one who takes after their father, now are you?" the crocodile giggled.

Once again, I didn't understand what he meant, so I decided to just ignore him. When I looked back at him, my confusion intensified upon seeing he had halted abruptly.

"What are you doing?" I asked, slightly irritated. "We must carry on."

"This is as far as I go, young witch." Rumplestiltskin smirked. "I trust you will figure out the rest of the way on your own."

"What? That was not the deal, crocodile." I spat in anger. "You guided me, I gave you your answers."

His face seemed to darken, as though he had taken my words as a threat.

"And you shall." he assured sternly. "You will understand why I must go now. But we shall see each other again soon. Then, I will have my answers."
