❝I SPOKE TO YOU IN CAUTIOUS TONES. YOU ANSWERED ME WITH NO PRETENSE, AND STILL I FEEL I SAID TOO MUCH.❞
- BILLY JOEL, AND SO IT GOES

"Do you ever take a day off, Sheldon?" Theodosia scowled as she lifted her head off of Johnny's arm, causing the Soc to snicker.

"You've really downgraded since Markus dumped you," Randy Adderson joined in his best friend's taunting. Theodosia rolled her eyes.

The two Socs neared Theodosia and Johnny. By the way they moved, it reminded Theodosia of vultures when they found a corpse, taking their time before swooping in to their meal.

Theodosia rolled her eyes again and stiffened her back, sitting up straighter than she normally did. I dumped him, thank you very much, Theodosia wanted to say but, alas, held her tongue.

"Still not how it happened," Theodosia argued, knitting her brows together.

"Sure it is, Sweets," Bob laughed.

Theodosia grimaced,"Don't call me that."

Theodosia's discomfort made Bob laugh again. She had never liked Bob Sheldon and was never quite sure as to what it was Cherry Valance saw in him. For starters, his favorite pass time was jumping Greasers. And he could be crude and demanding and drank way too much. Theodosia hadn't needed to spend all of her time with Markus's friends to figure this much out. Bob was always very loud and open about it.

Out of the corner of her eye, Theodosia glanced at Johnny. He was slouched downward. She noticed that his arms had fallen down to his lap, and he was quietly slapping his pants pockets.

Theododia started to chew on her lip.

Randy rounded over to Johnny and yanked his head upward. Theodosia hopped to her feet, ready to pounce on Randy at any second. Bob forced her back to her seat. Theodosia scowled.

"Hold your horses, Sweets."

Randy grabbed Johnny's chin, probably to get a look at Johnny's face. A smirk grew on his face. Theodosia balled her fists at her sides. She watched silently as his hand neared his back pocket, assumedly where he kept his switchblade.

"Say, Bob, isn't this the Greaser who stabbed you a few years back?" Randy asked slyly.

Theodosia felt her breath stop somewhere between her lungs and her mouth. She felt her mouth go dry. What? They had to be joking. There was no way Johnny'd stab someone.

Bob joined Randy to get a look at Johnny. Theodosia watched as a crazed grin grew on Bob's face. He reminded her of a psychopathic clown outside of his costume.

For some stupid reason, Theodosia stayed seated. She didn't know if it was the tension that kept her down or her silent but violent fear clawing up her throat.

"Why, I do say it is, Randy!"

"J-Johnny, what are they talking about?" Theodosia asked quietly.

It felt all too familiar. There was an odd sense of deja vu in the way Johnny wouldn't meet her eyes. Not again. God, please. Not again. Theodosia felt her breathing begin to increase. Say something. Anything. She silently pleaded that everything Bob and Randy was saying was a lie.
