I watched as Zayn stumbled through his front door, then backed out of his driveway, and drove onto the road. My phone buzzed on the black leather seat of my Ford Focus. I carefully took my eyes off the road and reached over to check the text. Unfortunately, it wasn't quick enough, another car that had come from the intersection came rushing towards my car. I had no time to swerve. Deafening honks and screams filled my ears as the car crashed at my side. Windows exploded, glass fell everywhere, my world was spinning and it suddenly stopped and came to one color: black.

                                                                              ***

Voices registered in my heading, a constant beeping noise came from my side, what the hell? There was a knocking sound. I tried to open my mouth to answer, but to no avail. It was as if my voice and body was not in my control. There was a clicking sound. I assumed it was the door closing. Who was it?

"How is she doing?" An unfamiliar, masculine voice whispered.

"They don't know when she'll wake up," this time, the voice was slightly deeper, it had a different tone to it, signifying another person speaking.

Who'd wake up? The last thing I remembered was a text message popping up on my screen . . .

"It's already been three months -"

Movement came back to me. What just happened? My foot had a spasm, causing a loud thump across something hard.

Loud footsteps came toward me. "Alicia?" The masculine voice whispered, "Can you hear me?" I felt the person's hot breath beating on the right side of my ear.

Yes, because whispering totally helps when you are trying to get someone to hear you. Who was this person, anyway? Where . . was I? I carefully twitched on my fingers; rough bed sheets? Something heavy laid on me from my waist . . . blankets? The hell?

"You idiot, whispering won't help," the second person snapped. I winced internally at how loud he was.

"Fine, Alicia if you can hear me, say something," the voice pleaded.

I can't speak. My voice wouldn't cooperate with my body. The only thing I could move were my fingers. I tried to open my eyes again, but it was useless. What's going on? Was I dreaming? I've watched movies where a girl would pass out, but her soul came out and heard and watched everything outside of her body. I . . . didn't think that was the case, though.

"Maybe we just heard something," the deeper-voiced boy suggested. A rustling sound and footsteps followed after.

"Both of us?"
