Chapter 15
*Adam I'm fine don't get all bent out of shape. See you next week. Love you*
I click on Will's name not knowing what to expect.
*April what's wrong?*
*Are you ignoring me again? What did I do?*
*Please answer me*
*Why don't your parents know where you are? Or Adam? Where are you?*
*Damn it April I'm losing my mind*
*Alright...I'm done...ignore me don't ignore me...when I don't answer it's all because of you*
I roll my eyes and tears spring up thinking of the fact that he may have just broken up with me over text. Instead of texting I call him and cross my fingers hoping he will answer.
"Hello" thank god he answered even if his voice is cold and distant.
"Hi, do you have time to talk before next class?"
"Just a few minutes"
"Look I know you’re pissed at me..."
"Pissed! I'm fucking furious April!!" I flinch at the anger in his voice even over the phone it sends icicles into my heart.
"I'm fucking unstable!! Now stop with the language and let me talk" there is silence on his end, he is biting his tongue I can tell.
"I needed to leave so I did. I'm in Alabama at my family farm. Be fucking furious at me I don't care right now. The main reason I called was to tell you I was alright and where I was but also to clarify something... The last text you sent me, were you breaking up with me?" No answer I check to see if he hung up no he is still there. "Because if you are breaking up with me over a text message...god that's just I slap to the face and would show me that you have no balls. I may be a horrible girlfriend right now but Jesus Christ I think I deserve more than a fucking text message." I wait for his reply and when I still get nothing I sigh and hold back yelling and crying. "Alright that's your answer...bye Will" I hang up and throw my phone on the bed. Tears trickle down my face as I grab my keys and purse. I decide to drive over to the other house.
When I get there I grab the guns from the safe and the ammo then grabbing the targets I head out into the pasture. God it feels good to shoot again. When I have shot all the ammo I brought with me I pack up and head back...
It's halfway through the break. I haven't talked to Will since last Thursday and it breaks my heart but I know right know I just need to separate myself from everyone that's the whole reason I came anyways. I have been going and shooting every day and tanning every day. My mom misses me and Adam feels hurt that I left him but he will get over it. My phone sings next to me I turn my head and pick it up.
"Hello" silence on the other end.
"Um hello? Can I help you?" No answer.
"Okay well I'm just going to hang up now" when I still hear silence I hang up and flip over onto my back...
"Mom I'm home" I turn on the light and head upstairs. Hmm the house is quiet where is everyone? When I get to the kitchen there is a note for me.
April- dad and I had to fly to California be back Monday. Adam went to Florida for the weekend. Be safe, love you. -mom
Great more alone time, during the weekend I catch up on the work I missed in class though it wasn't much and then tan the rest of the time. Sunday I decided to go for an evening jog. It's the perfect temperature to run three miles so that's exactly what I do. My last lap and I feel winded but charge through the pain. Last stretch and I go into a full on sprint. Ouch!!! I fall to the ground and grab my ankle. My god that hurts! I look for what caused me to collapse and see a pothole in the middle of the track. How did I miss that? I get up and hobble to my car. When I get home I take a shower and go to bed with an ice pack wrapped around my left ankle.
