Chapter 18

"Hey" I rasp out, my throat is dry and my whole body aches.

"Hey honey" my moms eyes fill with tears.

"Please tell me those devils are gone"

"Yes they got arrested with no chance of a bond" I smile knowing that they can't haunt or harm me anymore.

"How long was I gone?"

"Two days"

"How long have I been out?"

"Three" that's four days of school in the past two weeks.

"When do I get to go home and back to school?"

"Tomorrow if we are lucky"

"Mom am I alright?" The tears are racing down her cheeks as she grabs my hands.

"Oh sweetie, you’re a little banged up but you are almost all the way healed. Except for your ankle which is severely sprained"

"Was I raped?"

"No thank god no otherwise I think Adam, your dad and Will would all be in jail right now"

"What?"

"Those three were frantic. I have never seen so much anger in one room. I swear if the police were still looking for you they would be out of their minds."

"I don't understand. I called Will and he was so cold why would he be worried about me?"

"Darling you have much to learn. Will was hurt that you left and wouldn't answer him avoiding him wasn't helping. And shutting him out when you came back wasn't any use. He was hurt; you have some serious damage control."

"Mom I said I was scared like three times and he was still callous towards me" she sighs and squeezes my hand.

"You did break his heart. Anyways he still cares about you and when you went missing he was in a state of panic. Why don't I let you see the boys? One at a time though." She leaves and in walks my dad.

"Hi daddy" I smile at him.

"Baby girl you scared me half to death. Are you alright?"

"I'm sorry dad. I will be once I'm out of here and back to my life."

"You are so strong, I'm so glad you're my daughter. I won't take up too much of your time there are still two people who want to see you." He kisses my forehead and walks out. Adam walks in a few minutes later and his face floods with relief.

"April oh my god I'm so glad to see you awake" he hugs me and I wince.

"Sorry, how are you feeling?"

"Like a million bucks" I roll my eyes. "Ready to go home"

"You had me so worried."

"I know but now it will never happen again"

"I hope so, look I have some news...I go back to Iraq tomorrow"

"Seriously! I lost time to spend with you"

"It won't be a long tour; I will be back by the end of school"

"Okay be careful. I love you"

"Love you too" he kisses my forehead and leaves the room. There's a hesitant knock on the door and then it cracks open.

"Come in" I sit up and try to fix my hair as best I could. Will walks in and sits down in the chair next to me.
