Chapter 20

"My turn" putting my iPod into the speaker I press play.

"I sing opera type songs" the phantom of the opera starts playing and I sing along. Hitting notes I haven't hit in years.

"Aaaaaaaaaa" the tone gets higher and higher. When the highest key comes I hit it square on, his eyes widen and his mouth pops open. When it ends we sit there in silence while I wait for him to speak.

"You have the most amazing voice" "why didn't you stay in the music business?"

"I wanted to have a normal life, I didn't want to live my childhood in the spotlight." I shrug and stand up. "What about you why did you stop?"

"Same as you, I didn't want to be in the spotlight and lets face it who wants a guy that plays the piano?" He tilts his head down and my heart stutters, I tilt it back up and look at those handsome green eyes.

"I do" I crush my lips to his; he stands and encircles me in his arms.

"I'm a very lucky guy" I laugh and pull him towards the stables.

"Let’s go horseback riding"...

"Ms. Jones..." I stare down at Adam's words. A tear drop falls on the paper and I wipe it away.

"Ms. Jones" there's a flick to the back of my head. I whip around and glare at her.

"What the hell?"

"Ms. Jones!!" "Am I interrupting your reading?" Mr. Parks grabs my letter and walks to the front of the room.

"No! That's not yours"

"I believe it is sharing time"

"Please give it back" I beg standing next to my desk.

"Dear April, I'm sorry I had to leave you right after you woke up in the hospital. I wish I was there to protect you from anyone else trying to harm you. I know you avoided me because I look like Andrew but we will have to face each other sooner or later..."

"Please stop..." I mumble everyone is staring at me and some are stifling their laughter.

"...the reason I'm writing you isn't about what happened while I was in town. I know I said I would be back for Christmas but it won't be happening. I'm so sorry baby girl...."I grab it from his hands and it rips in half. Tears stream down my face and I run out of the room. I run outside and climb up my tree.

The sobs escaping my lips are so loud and painful as I try to put the letter back together. Why did he have to do that? Isn't that against the rules to take a students stuff and read it to the class without their permission?
