Chapter 23

There's a loud bang on the door. I jolt awake and listen to see if the person left. Another bang on the door, slowly I grab the baseball bat and hide it behind my back. I crack the door and peek to see who it is. He pushes the door open and walks in. Anger is written all over his face but when he turns and sees me it changes to relief and carnal appreciation. What? I look down and realize I forgot to put clothes on. I blush at the fact that I am standing in front of him with underwear and a sports bra on.

"How did you find me?"

"Your parents gave me the address" I curse under my breath and walk back into the bedroom.

"So your here to take me back?"

"I'm here to figure out what the hell is going on with you"

"Nothing"

"Bull shit and you know it"

"Don't you have things to do at home?"

"You're more important"

"Sure I am..." The coffee maker is a pain to turn on but I finally get it going. I throw my hair up into a loose bun and rummage through the refrigerator for food.

"You are I'm worried about you."

"Why worry about an ex" I murmur taking out the skillet and mixing bowl.

"Ex? You were serious?"

"What made you think I was joking?"

"So you broke up with me over something I didn't even do? You must really not want us to work at all"

"You carried me to the principal and your disregarded everything I said yesterday"

"I'm an office aid I had to do what I was told"

"And look where it got me" I yell throwing bacon onto the skillet. We stand in silence I can't believe he thought I was joking.

"Ow! Shit" I turn and go to the sink immediately putting cold water on it. "Damn it" my bacon is going to burn and I bet I will get a blister from that damn skillet.

"It's better if you run it under hot water" he reaches over me and makes the water scolding hot. I yelp and turn burying my face in his chest. He pulls my hand back under the water and holds it there but I don't feel the heat all I feel is the electricity running through my veins from his touch.

"My bacon is burning" I whisper and separate myself from him. When my breakfast is done I sit at the bar and stare at him. He leans against the counter and folds his arms.
