All I want is to mess around,
And I don't really care about
If you love me, If you hate me
You can't save me baby, baby...
I have been lying here wide awake for over an hour now. It's been weeks since I've talked to Casey and from the sounds of it, it may be longer. Her music is literally bursting out from behind her door, echoing down the hall way into my room... honestly it's as intrusive as it gets. I would go and tell her to turn it down a notch but I'm not going to crack first... not this time anyway. She's always had me wrapped around her finger, always able to manipulate me into apologizing even though most times I'm innocent; She must've thought that's what was going to happen, well jokes on her. After a couple of weeks of the silent treatment, she had opted to go into her ear-splitting isolation habits. She no longer walks out of her room whenever I am out of mine, which is one less problem for me. I haven't seen her eat, or heard her shower, but then again I could care less; then there's the music...
All of the lights land on you
The rest of the world fades from view...
Seeing Derick's name flash on my phone screen sent ripples of delirium through out my body. I had forgotten what it was I had been thinking of, all I could focus on was the warm fuzzy feeling that was growing inside of me....
And I know, the scariest part is letting go
'Cause love is a ghost you can't control
I promise you the-
"Hello..."
"Hi baby..." I could hear his lips stretch into a smile, all it took was a simple hello. "...How is my chocolate-chip?"
"I'm great, now that I'm talking to you."
"Still giving Casey the silent treatment?"
"She deserves it. She shouldn't have acted that way."
"Well yeah, but it's taking a toll on you too sweetheart... unfortunately for me, she's your right-wing man-"
"My left boob-" He laughed boisterously, sending chills down my spine.
" Yes baby... meaning when she is sad you aren't so jolly yourself." For once, I'm going to be stubborn and ignore that cursed fact.
"But Derick-"
"But nothing. I know you see what I'm getting at here. Put that big ego of yours aside and patch things up with Casey because I'm dying to see you. I'm practically petrified of coming by with you two in that state."
" Patch things up?" I couldn't help but laugh at his optimism. I loved it when he tried acting all mature and stuff... but this was not the time. "Easier said that done. Casey is a handful! She is a hard-headed, cunning little prick! Patching things up is never that simple!"
"Okay, but you aren't the only one suffering here you know... think of me-"
"What?!", think of you!? " How in the world can you possibly say that when it's partly your fault that we are in this situation to begin with-"
"Partly-"
"It doesn't matter! you played a part in this! I don't even understand why you hate her so much! Maybe you could start there Derick... enlighten me! What is going on between you two?" Casey wouldn't spill so maybe Derick would. There has to be a history to their hate.
" Look all I'm saying is that I don't like seeing you this way-"
"It's a little too late for your smooth talking, don't you think!"
"Strawberry-"
"Answer me!"
Casey's POV
I've lived with the feeling and reality of having no one, it's almost second nature to me. Unlike Evelyn, life hasn't exactly served me the biggest piece of cake; I have never had parents, I've never had siblings and I've never had a home. Evelyn is the closest thing I've had to family... so forgive me for feeling like I don't have to apologize for her decision of choosing Derick over me!
The scent of pancakes trailed into my room and my stomach immediately growled in response. The music stopped just in time for me to hear the door bell, to which I jumped off my bed and rushed down the stairs with only one thought in mind... pizza. Evelyn must've thought making pancakes was going to get me to crack... how preposterous!
I walked past her in the kitchen on the way to the door and gave her a mocking smirk before I opened it...
"Evelyn I-" What. The. Heck!
"I am really getting sick of seeing your face here."
"Oh please, like I came to see you. Move. Where's Evelyn?"
I turned towards the kitchen, and met my gaze with a fuming Evelyn. I could tell from the look in her eyes that they had been arguing... I just had to smile at that thought.
"Evelyn look-"
"No Derick, you look!" oh it's about to go down. Where is the popcorn when you need it. " You can't just hang up on me and expect me to welcome you into my arms when you step through the door-"
"He hung up on you!?"
"Shut up Casey."
"Shut up Casey!"
"Wow, you guys are perfect for each other!" I cant believe I thought one of you was better than the other... pssht tag teaming against me... "First of all I don't like you! So you really have no damn right to talk to me that way! And you, we aren't speaking to each other too, so I don't like you either.. right now anyway!"
"Where do you think you are going?!"
"Like you would care!" I was about to shut the door when I bumped into the pizza guy and back away from him.
"Oh my gosh. I am so sorry, I-"
"Hello Casey." What? "How's my little time devil doing?" I heard Derick gasp at the mention of time devil and my heart immediately began to race... No one was supposed to know... no one knew.
Um dude he knows your name
I know, he also knows I'm a time devil
well now... so does Derick.
