Hi 👋
I normally don't like to write author's note at the beginning of the chapter because it gets in between the reader and the chapter. But I have to tell this here so you can listen to the music when that part comes up.

I added the music Arrival of the Birds by The Cinematic Orchestra. That is the piano piece that Lana plays in this chapter. I was going to add just the piano solo version of the song but decided against it because the orchestra version is simply breathtaking.

This song also plays at the end of The Theory of Everything movie. Enjoy the chapter!

Lana's POV

On the next morning, Lana left her house and got into her Camaro to drive to Roman's apartment. She was excited about Roman staying at her place. It meant a lot to move in together in a relationship.

Though the reason for them moving in together was not like it would be in a normal relationship. Roman was being followed by a vampire they did not know and Lana wanted to protect him.

She feared for his safety. No immediate reasons came to her mind about why a vampire would follow Roman but she was guessing it had something to do with her.

Over her long life span, Lana had made enemies. Some of them vampires, some humans and some other supernatural species. So it was close to impossible to pinpoint who would try to get to Lana by using her beloved.

Up until Lana had met Roman, she had paid no heed to her enemies. She was usually spending her years in solitude. But not to hide from them. If anyone wanted to confront her, they could come and barge right in through her front door.

She was very powerful and others knew it. So even if they had a fight to settle with her, they abstained from it. Because it would mean a death wish for them.

But now, with Roman in the picture... things were different. Lana couldn't turn a blind eye to her enemies. If they had learned somehow that she had found her beloved, they would come after him. It would be a perfect point to strike, her beloved, her weakness.

And they were right.

If somebody were to threaten Roman, Lana would do anything they asked her to do.

Yes. Someone could bring Lana to her knees by using her beloved. She, Lanakila, had faced powerful rulers, massive empires and kings that had ruled with an iron fist. And never once had she bowed down or had gotten on her knees for them.

And Roman could make her do that.

Lana's obvious weakness unsettled and frustrated her. But she couldn't bring herself to hate this situation because it would then mean that she wished she never found her beloved. She didn't regret meeting Roman. It was the single most significant thing in her life. Her previous years of life seemed far away.

Lana had really started living when she found him. Her destined other half.

So she would do anything and everything to protect him and give him everything he deserved and more.

She was starting doing that by making him move in with her.

After a car drive that was short, mostly because of her fast driving, Lana arrived at Roman's apartment. She opened the sleek black car's driver side door and got out. Then Lana walked to the main entrance of the building and buzzed Roman's apartment number.

A second later a quick buzz and a click came, signalling that the main door was now open. Lana climbed the stairs and came to stand at the door of the apartment. Just as she was about to knock, the door opened and there stood Trevor.
