Lana's POV

"I will ask this one more time. Why were you following Roman." Lana asked in a menacing tone to the vampire seated before her.

He was strapped securely to the chair. He wasn't going anywhere before Lana was finished with him anyway but it was just a precaution.

Lana waited for an answer but after not getting a response, she punched him on the side of his face. The vampire spit out blood in his mouth at the side and looked down. He was exhausted and couldn't even lift his head.

Lana had to give it to the newborn vampire. She had tortured him pretty thoroughly and brutally but he hadn't talked.

Well... he had talked, to ask for mercy and beg for her to let him go but he hadn't told her anything worthwhile.

Every inch of the vampire's body was covered with cuts and bruises, his own blood soaking his clothes, and he was still not telling her anything.

She asked an old friend of hers, a vampire named Leo to search the areas that Roman usually went to see if they would come across any signs of vampires. He was in the council and he could get access to these informations and security cameras. When the call came, Leo was telling her about how they had caught a newborn close to the university Roman went to.

Lana knew that this newborn was with whoever was stalking Roman because she had researched the vampire activity around the region before coming to the university to work.

There were no vampires residing and no vampires attended the university. So finding a newborn inside the university was too suspicious to go unnoticed.

Right as Lana was getting ready to break another part of the newborn's body, Lana's cell phone rang. She immediately took out and answered when she saw it was Roman.

"Yes cara mea?" Lana said but the line was cut off before Roman replied. She lowered the phone to look at the screen. Maybe it was cut off because of the service so she tried calling Roman back. This time it went straight to voicemail.

Unease started uncoiling at the pit of Lana's stomach. Something was wrong, terribly wrong. She started getting angry at the thought of someone harming Roman and turned her anger towards the new born.

She took one of the knives off the table and stabbed it onto his thigh. He screamed at the pain and threw his head back.

Lana forcefully grabbed the vampire's jaw with bruise leaving strength and made him look her in the eye. "Why. Were you. At the. University?" Lana asked as she forced every word from between her teeth.

She saw fear on the newborn's face. She could tell her eyes had turned red and it was scaring him. Her beloved was on the line and she would stop at nothing to protect him. She was seething anger and it was making the newborn cower in fear.

"I asked you a question!" Lana shouted. She rarely raised her voice. The newborn flinched at her voice.

She was frustrated and grabbed the metal binding holding the newborn's wrist down to the chair. Using her vampire strength, she pulled the metal cuff off of the chair and grabbed his wrist.

She twisted his arm and then punched the back off his elbow. His arm made a sickening crunch sound as his arm broke.

He screamed in agony again. The blood from his cuts were mixing with the blood of his tears. He was crying from the pain, they were finally getting somewhere.

All Lana could see was red as she grabbed the knife she had plunged into the vampire's thigh. She had lost control an wasn't even asking questions to the newborn.

She dragged the knife across his chest and made a deep cut. Again his sounds of pain followed. Just before Lana was about to break one of his fingers, the newborn vampire said, "Stop! Please, please stop!"

Lana broke the middle finger on his left hand, not listening to him. The normal blade cuts were healing too fast so she grabbed two wooden stakes and stabbed both of his legs with one.

He screamed again at the feel of the wood. Vampires were vulnerable if they were wounded with wood, just as werewolves were with silver. It took longer to heal and it made them weak. That's why a wooden stake to the heart killed them.

The vampire pleaded again, "Please stop, I'm begging you. I'll tell you whatever it is you want to know! Just stop." He screamed.

Lana took the knife back in her hand and asked, "Why were you at the university?" When the newborn hesitated in answering, Lana made a deep cut on the vampire's right arm.

"Okay, okay." He shouted. "I-I was there because he asked me to." He said.

"Who asked you?" Lana asked.

"M-mr. Marcus." The newborn stuttered.

Lana stopped at the name. She knew which Marcus the newborn was talking about. She knew him. And she also knew he would do something like sending men off to follow Lana's beloved.

She returned her attention back to the newborn. "Why did he send you to the university?" She asked.

"He- he sent me to be caught so I could give them time." The newborn said.

As soon as she heard this, cold settled into her veins and a rage so profound settled into her bones. Marcus had sent the newborn to the university to be caught. So he could catch her beloved unprotected.

An animalistic roar left Lana's mouth and in a flash, the last wooden stake on the table was plunged deep into the newborn vampire's chest. Lana didn't cast another glance back as she exited the room and ordered the vampire standing guard to clean up the mess inside.

Without waiting to see if he had heard her orders or not, she got in to her car and started driving at full speed at her house.

It wasn't long before she was at her house and she used her vampire speed to go through the house. She came to a stop at her room on the second floor. There was remnants of a broken vase on the threshold and there, on the floor, was Roman's phone. She crouched down and picked his cellphone up.

She could smell the scent of two people in the house, along with Roman's scent. One was possibly a vampire, although they didn't have a distinctive scent. And the other belonged to a werewolf. Lana took a deeper breath. It was a female wolf. Why would Marcus send a werewolf and a vampire after her beloved. Were the werewolves and vampires working together? There were questions that needed answers.

Lana rose up from her crouching position and called Leo. "I need your assistance. Gather your team and meet me." Lana said and closed the phone. She looked over the signs of struggle again.

She released a blood curling roar in anger at having her beloved taken away from her. Lana would make Marcus pay, she would kill everyone who was involved in this.

This chapter wasn't any better than the last one. I'm still in pain.

So we saw a tad bit of Lana's dark side on this chapter when she was torturing the newborn.

Do you like this side of her?

And what do you think will happen on the next chapters.
