{Chapter 20: Spells and Rituals}

Matt's POV

Mason looked at me, his jaw hanging open.

"W-What?" he stuttered out, not believing what his ears had heard.

"You're going to see your brother again." I said, putting my hand on his shoulder. "Perform the spell so Jacob can fuse with my body."

Mason had tears of joy is his eyes as he formed a small smile.

"Y-you would r-really do that?" Mason asked.

"Yes he would Mason," Nate's voice echoed out. "because Matt is just that good of a guy."

"Nate!?" I asked, looking around for where he was coming from.

"Yes Matt," Nate's voice came again. "Mason is allowing my voice to finally come through. You'll be able to do this too once Jacob is fused with you."

Mason nodded furiously, confirming that Nate was correct.

"A-and as soon as J-Jacob fuses with you, w-we will be able to talk again." Mason explains. "B-but after, I promise to have the both of us relinquish your bodies after and we'll go back into the spirit world forever."

"I believe you Mason, it's ok, but let's get to the spell before we waste anymore time." I said, standing up and pulling Mason up with me. "So what do we do first?"

Mason's POV

I had Matt lay down on the summoning symbol again, this time without the shackles of course. And spread the special sand from Bolivia around the markings. I began muttering the spell as Matt took deep calming breaths.

"Spirits, spirits, hear my words. A joining of souls shall now occur.." I repeated over and over as I finished spreading the sand. "Spirits, spirits, hear my words. A joining of souls shall now occur."

I took out the sage oil and placed a drop on Matthew's forehead and made the sign of the cross as I finished the spell.

"Spirits, spirits, hear my words. A joining of souls shall now occur... Matthew Patrick," I began. "You are here to become one with Jacob Mullens, have his spirit join with yours and have ability to possess control over you. This binding should allow the deceased's soul to finish what it couldn't do while living, thus fulfilling the wandering spirit's mission and allowing it to fully be at peace. Raise your hands to the sky."

Matthew raised his hands up and awaited the object I would give him to hold. I pulled out my brothers favorite stuffed animal that had been lost in the resurant the night he was murdered, his stuffed animal frog named Robert.

Just like when Nathan touched me while I was connected to the puppet doll, Matthew touching Robert would give him the connection to Jacob because the frog was the last thing he touched before he died.

As I placed Robert in Matthew's hands, I spoke the final incantation.

"Let these two souls join as one, to finish what has once begun. Bring life to who was once deceased, its spirit hence shall be released!!"

A swirling green light rose up from the symbol on the floor and began to twist around Matthew. Matthew pulled Robert to his chest as he began to rise off the ground, swirling with the light in a circle as the light began to turn blue.

Suddenly there was a huge flash of white light and I was thrown backwards into the wall. When I opened my eyes, Matthew was lying on the floor, still clutching Robert. I crawled over to him as Nate and I waited for him to open his eyes.

Seconds went by...then minutes...almost a half hour had passed before I began to feel worried.

"What's happening Mason?" Nate asked, clearly as worried as I was.

"I don't know Nathan." I replied, terrified that this spell had gone horribly wrong.

Hello Mystical Creatures!

I'm BACK!

Oh my gosh it feels so good to be writing again!!! I finally had some time and I was able to write a chapter! I actually changed some things around with how I wanted the ending to go and it's all planned out! I can't wait to keep writing.

I'm still crazy busy, but I hope to have the next chapter out on Monday as scheduled. This is my last week of classes before finals week, then I'll be on summer break! Woohoo!

I just have to thank all of you so much for being so patient with me and giving me all the time I needed! You're all so understanding and supportive and I thank you all so much for that!

I really hope you all enjoyed the chapter!

[EDIT 5-22-17: I changed the spells to the English translations because I put a lot of effort into making them rhyme and it seemed silly to do all that just so people couldn't understand it.]
