Mason's POV

Nathan and Matthew raised their hands and a swirling light began to wrap around all of us. I felt myself being lifted off the ground and twisting in the air, round and round until I felt dizzy. Then suddenly it all stopped.

I looked around and saw that we were back in Oregon, standing in the graveyard... next to my mothers grave.

"Ok," I said, pulling out my spell book. "We need to form a circle around her grave with small stones. I have a bag in my pocket along with my mother's necklace I managed to recover after I gained power to leave the restaurant after it renovated. I'm going to hang the necklace then say the spell. Is everyone ready to begin?"

Everyone nodded as I handed the bag of stones to Nathan and he passed them around. The 3 of them formed the circle around the grave as I found the proper spell needed to recover a lost soul.

"Is this the same spell you used on Nate and I Mason?" Matthew asked as he continued to place stones.

"No," I said, " this spell is a little different. Jacob's soul was at rest so recovering it was much easier. With my soul, I may be a wandering spirit, but because I was present for the spell to fuse with Nathan, we could use the same spell. With my mother however, we must locate her soul and bring it to us. She'll be like you and Nathan, no body but still able to touch and feel touch."

Once I was done explaining, the circle was done. Everyone stepped back as I placed the necklace on the front of the grave and walked over to my spot to begin the spell.

"We call upon you, spirit adrift. With all of the powers that this book will gift. Use this possession with all its might, to let this spirit appear tonight!

The ground began to shake and the wind picked up speed, tossing the trees in wild abandon as a purple light began to form over her tombstone. The light began to grow brighter and brighter as it changed from purple to blue, then orange, yellow and finally pink. Then a flash of very white intense light flashed before it all went still.

As I looked up, I saw a hazy purple light slowly growing at the base of the grave and begin to form into a human shape. Within minutes I could see my mothers long blonde hair, sparkling green eyes and soft smile as she took full spirit form before our eyes.

"Mother," I said, gazing at her with tears in my eyes.

"Mason," she said with her beautiful voice I had longed to hear for so long. "Jacob, my boys... I've finally found you!"

It felt like slow motion as Jacob and I ran towards her as she held her arms outstretched. I felt her warm arms wrap around me as she hugged us tight, sobbing as we fell to the ground in a loving embrace.

"Momma," Jacob said as he struggled to catch his breath through his crying. "W-Where have you been? W-Why didn't you come to the light?"

Mother pulled away and held Jacob's face in her hands.

"Oh my sweet baby," she said, trying to steady her breathing. "I wanted to come to you and Mason so badly, but... my soul... it was too hollow. I died not knowing what happened to you both. I couldn't move on until I knew what happened. I... also didn't expect to die when I did."

"What do you mean mother?" I asked, afraid of what her answer would be.

She closed her eyes as she dropped her head to her chest.
