Matt's POV
I had just turned my car down Nate's street, balancing the soup in my lap so it wouldn't fall. I was so excited to be seeing Nate again! We've been best friends since childhood so not seeing or talking to him for over 2 weeks was very weird for us.
I was just so happy he was feeling better and I was eager to film his video for his 'Halloween Week' he does every October.
I pulled up onto Nate's driveway and got out of the car. As I walked up to his door, I tried to take my phone out to text Nate and let him know I was there. But before I could even unlock my phone, the door to Nate's house flew open and there stood Nate, with a bit of a crazed look in his eyes.
I was a bit shocked as I looked at my best friend. He looked so skinny and had dark circles under his eyes. His clothes looked wrinkled and dirty, and his hair was unkept, very unlike Nate normally is.
"Hey MatPat!" he said. "How've ya been man?"
"Uh, good, I-I've been good." I stuttered out. "Um, what about you? You seem a little...um..."
"Disheveled?" he questioned with a smirk on his face.
"Yeah, that's the word." I said, worry evident in my voice. "Are you alright?"
"Oh yeah yeah, I'm totally fine!" he chuckled. "This is just my costume for the video were gonna shoot today."
"Oh ok, duh! That makes sense" I thought to myself.
I laughed along with him, silently breathing in a sigh of relief.
"I was just about to finish the makeup when I heard your car pull up." he said waving me in the house. "I'm not a makeup artist like Morgan, but I make do. Here, I'll take that soup and put it in the kitchen. You'll have to tell Steph thank you for me 'cause this looks delicious! Meanwhile, you have a seat and look over your lines and I'll go finish my makeup."
He gestured towards the couch as he took the soup from my hands.
"Sounds good." I said, sitting down as I picked up the script. "And I'll definitely tell her. She'll just be so happy to hear you're doing better."
I sat down, opening up the script as I looked around. Nate's apartment looked a bit messed up, like someone had been throwing things around in a fit of rage. There were clothes all over the floor and some furniture had been broken. His gaming chair sat upside down with the games scattered all over the place.
"It's probably just for the background of the video." I reassured myself.
I began reading the script about how Nate was going to play the puppet and I would play purple guy as we fought around the room while his song, "The Finale" played, each taking turns singing certain parts.
Man, the fans were gonna love this one! Me singing with Nate would probably make all the fangirls faint! I missed singing and I wished I could do it more, so the fact that Nate was having me sing with him sounded like great fun.
As I got to the last page of the script, out of the corner of my eye I saw a folded up piece of notebook paper sitting right in the middle of the table. At first I just assumed it was a prop for the video, but the paper looked too neat amid the chaos it was surrounded by. Curiosity got the best of me as I reached for it and un-folded it.
