I Know What You Did Last Summer

She settled her legs on his lap as they sat on the park bench. Orange, red, and yellow leaves circled them, flowing in the breeze that flowed through the air. She had spent her entire summer in Austrailia with her family, as she had extended family down there, due to her sister's husband. Her sister's husband's father was given a set amount of days to live, and her family wanted the rest of the family to be there to comfort her older sister.

He felt uneasy around her now. The other night while she thought he was asleep, she had been texting someone. A man she met in the country. When she fell asleep, he did the number one thing that someone should never do: Snoop through their girlfriend's phone.

Dirty secrets that I keep,

Does he know it's killing me?

He knows, he knows another's hands have touched my skin

I won't tell him where I've been.

He knows, he knows,

He knows, she thought, opening her book. She knew that she wasn't being as sneaky as she should have been with the Austrailian man. Ashton, she thought, smiling at the memories. She felt dirty that they weren't memories with Shawn, but as far as she knew, he could have done the same over summer.

It's tearing me apart,

And she's slipping away,

Am I just hanging on to all the words you used to say?

The pictures on her phone,

She's not coming home,

Coming home, coming home!

He knew that if her sister's father hadn't died, she'd still be there with "Ash" or whoever he was.

His summer was uneventful. He spent the fourth of July with his family, of course, and wrote a couple of songs that were to be performed. He also became friends with her sister on Facebook and saw their fourth of July celebration, even though Austrailia didn't have an official fourth of July. He had looked at the pictures and found that, in the background, her and "Ash" locking lips multiple times.

I know what you did last summer,

Just lie, tell me there is no other!

I know what you did last summer,

Tell me where you've been!

I know what you did last summer,

Look me in the eye, my lover!

He sighed, "I know what you did last summer."

Tell me where you've been!

She perked up at his statement. She shut her book, "What are you talking about?" she asked, lying through her teeth.

"Forget it," he said, gritting his teeth. "Just keep lying to me."

"What the hell are you talking about?" she asked, "You're acting differently than normal."

When she looks me in the eyes,

They don't seem as bright,

No more, no more,

I know,

That she loved me at one time,

Would I promise her that night?

Cross my heart and hope to die?
