"Alright, Pencils down!" My heart drops looking at my one unanswered question. I hear my roommate Kate sigh audibly a few seats away from me, but I can't look up. I quickly scribble in an answer, ignoring the professors command, then drop my pencil, taking a deep breath. I look up, hoping no one was looking, my eyes scan the room, but no one seems to be paying any attention to me, except for Kate. She turns to look at me, running her fingers through her hair. She gives me a secretive look and winks conspiratorially. "Please take your final exams to the back of the classroom. Final grades will be posted in two weeks." Kate stands up and grabs her bag off the floor. I watch for a second as she bends down, collecting her things, my mind going completely blank. I shake my head, waking myself up, and blink a few times. Then I start packing my things into my backpack, preparing to leave. I'm startled by Kate's proximity as she leans over my desk, placing her hand on my shoulder.
"Hey, you all good?" She asks with a smile. "Yeah...." I blink a few times, stunned. Then I toss my pencil in my bag and zip it up. "Why wouldn't I be?" I flip a piece of my hair out of my face and smile back at her. A smirk forms on Kate's face once again and she winks at me, making me blush. What's gotten into her, today? She's always overly friendly and a little flirty, but she seems different today. Almost like she's flirting with me..... "We are so partying tonight." She gushes, a huge smile lighting up her face. I sigh breathlessly, pushing the idea of Kate flirting with me out of my head. She's just excited about celebrating tonight. "Oh my god." I exclaim, shaking my head at her. She's gonna be a hungover mess tomorrow and I'll have to deal with the aftermath no doubt. We both giggle together, and hearing her musical laugh, I know I won't mind holding her hair back as she vomits tonight. When we get home from school, Kate immediately switches into pre-party mode. She yanks her hair out of the messy pony tail she had for school and brushes it into submission. Then she covers the bathroom sink in all her makeup supplies, beginning the long process of application, while I make us both sandwiches and mix up some cocktails. I sit up on the kitchen counter, munching on my sandwich, as the thumping beat of Kate's Beyoncé CD blares in my ears. I can just make out Kate singing along in her tone deaf voice over Beyoncé. I giggle listening to her try to hit a high note. As I finish up my sandwich, I hop off the counter, throwing the crust into the trash can by the counter. I grab Kate's sandwich as well as both of our cocktails and shuffle into the bathroom, only to find Kate half-naked easing her way into a dress. "Ah! Kate!" I quickly set our drinks down and try to cover my eyes, but I'm too late. I've already seen her pull her black maxi dress up over her black push up bra. "What?" She asks, pulling the dress strap up over her arm. "It's nothing you haven't seen before, Ana." She scoffs at my embarrassment, watching amused as I slowly uncover my eyes. Why, oh, why must Kate always get changed in front of me, even after I've told her for the millionth time how uncomfortable it makes me? "I...err... made you a sandwich." I point to her sandwich I've placed on the counter, along with our cocktails. "But more importantly, you made drinks!" She snatches up both of our drinks and downs them before I can even get a word in. "Kate!" I scold her, smacking her arm. "One of those was mine!" She sets the glasses down in front of me, her face flushed from the alcohol. "Oops, sorry! My bad." She apologizes, biting her lip. I sigh, taking our empty glasses from her. "It's fine. I've gotta go change, I'll be right back." I run off to my room and change into my favorite jeans and a t-shirt. Then I stop in the kitchen to refill our cocktails, before making my way back to the bathroom. Kate gasps when she sees me. "You're wearing that?" The look of horror on her face makes me want to retreat back to my room to change, but I don't. "Yes. What's wrong with it? This is my favorite outfit." I examine myself in the mirror turning to each side to make sure there's no stains or loose threads. It looks fine to me. "Ugh, Ana! We're going out partying you're supposed to wear something a little less schoolgirl and a little more you know, ridonculous!" Ridonculous? My subconscious sneers. And I do not dress like a schoolgirl! Or do I? "Come with me, now. I have the perfect dress for you." Kate drags me away to her bedroom and digs through the closet, while I look around the room. Holy, fuck. Everything in here is so bright and distracting. It never ceases to shock me, no matter how many times I come in here. "Here it is!" Kate shoves a tiny bundle of red fabric into my hands. I unravel it and hold it out, gaping. Where the hell does Kate even get this stuff? This is barely even a dress. "Oh, no. Hell, no, Kate. There's no way I'm wearing this." I could never pull something like that off, ever. "What? Come on, Ana. It'll look gorgeous on you and the red will bring out the red shades in your hair." She pleads, giving me a pouty face. Usually I can't say no to her, but this is something I have to disagree on. "No, Kate." I toss the dress back at her. She frowns, but puts it away, knowing I mean business. "Fine, no dress this time, but you're letting me do your makeup, Steele." She insists. "No." I never wear makeup. I just don't understand it. "Pretty please? You'll look amazing, trust me. I know what I'm doing." She pouts again and I know I can't turn her down. "Okay, fine, but keep it simple, please." Before I can even finish she's grabbing my hand, dragging me to the bathroom and shrieking a chorus of yes's. After she finishes turning my eyelids brown and throughly coating my eye lids with mascara, she whips her lipgloss out of her makeup bag like it's a weapon of mass destruction. "Hold still." She commands, proceeding to smear lipgloss all over my lips. "This is way too much!" I protest, but she doesn't listen. "No, it's just the right amount." I roll my eyes. "I think you've had a few too many pre-party drinks." I say. "You're getting it all over my face!" She smiles. "That's the idea, baby." She finishes up by rubbing her finger under my bottom lip, smudging the gloss even more. "Wow, Kate I look ridiculous." I stare at myself in the mirror, assessing the damage. "No, you don't." She argues. "You look.... sexy." She smirks at me in the mirror, then she wipes a small amount of lipgloss from off my lower lip and wipes it onto her own. I try to clean up the mess she's made of my lips as she downs her third cocktail. A car pulls up and I jump, grabbing my drink off the counter. "Cabs here, let's go!" Kate exclaims, excitement radiating off of her. I chug the rest of my cocktail and stumble along after her as she drags me rather sloppily outside to the cab.
Authors Note; I hope you enjoyed the first chapter! I've never wrote a girlxgirl fanfic before so I hope I'm doing it right. I'll be updating this once a week or more if I have time. Other than that all I can say is thanks for reading and I'd love to hear your thoughts on what I can/should improve. ❤️
