Today is the day. The day everything we've worked our asses off for in school finally pays off. Graduation. In a few hours I'll be graduating with a 4.0 GPA and Kate will be giving her valedictorian speech. Kate's been a mess of nervousness and excitement all morning as she ran through the apartment, talking my ear off about every single thought that pops into her head. God, I love her, but I can't stand to hear one more word out of her mouth. Before she can make me listen to her practice her speech again, I hop in the shower. The shower is my favorite place to escape to and I needed to shower anyway before graduation. When I'm throughly cleansed and relaxed, I get out. I wrap a towel around myself and tiptoe off into my room to get dressed. Kate and I went dress shopping a couple weeks ago for this exact occasion. While Kate picked an elegant black dress, I opted for a more girlish baby blue dress. I take my dress off it's hanger in the back of my closet and slip it on, making sure to keep my hair from being caught in the zipper. Then I go off in search of Kate.

Kate finishes her makeup routine in record time, even taking the time to curl her hair. Then she quickly moves on to her next task. Me. She rather forcefully shoves me into a sitting position on her bed and starts transforming my face into a work of art with her expensive collection of makeup products. When she's finished with that, she moves onto the mess that is my hair. She brushes through it until it's shiny and silky. Then she sprays some product on it and begins curling it in loose spirals down my back. She's about halfway through when she stops suddenly, dropping the curling iron on the bed. "Ow, Fuck!" She screams, looking down at her burnt finger. "Are you okay?" I immediately jump up to help her, but there's nothing I can do for a burn. "I'm fine, sit back down. I just burnt the shit out of my finger, but it'll be fine." She assures me. "Let me finish your hair." She resumes with curling my hair, being extra cautious with her burnt finger. "You look beautiful." She declares, when she's all done and she's safely stored the curling iron a safe distance away. She leans in and kisses my neck briefly, sending warmth throughout my body and leaving me speechless, only to pull away and return to cleaning up her beauty supplies. "Kate?" I whisper, when my voice returns to me. "Yes?" I bite my lip, trying to decide on the appropriate thing to say. "Good luck with your speech." I smile shyly and she returns the smile immediately. She places her hands on my shoulders, looking into my eyes. "Are you ready to go?" I nod, staring into her sultry green eyes. "Yeah." She pulls me in for a hug, then lifts me off the bed, setting me back onto the floor gently, and takes my hand.

I watch as Kate flawlessly delivers her speech. I smile at her, hoping she'll see me, and when the applause starts I'm certain I clap the loudest. There aren't words to describe how proud of her I am. She's absolutely brilliant and an amazing speaker. When it's time for us to get our diplomas, I wait patiently for my turn, trying to avoid drawing attention to myself. Kate receives hers, stopping to shake Christian Grey's hand, the man she interviewed a while back, and I feel jealously flare up inside me. I remember how she gushed over him after the interview. The whole night she couldn't stop telling me how hot he was and now that I see the way they interact in person, I realize that he must think the same of her. I mean, who wouldn't?  Kate's flawless. Men are always chasing after her. But she likes you..... I remind myself, brushing off my feelings of jealously. After I get my diploma, I rush off to find Kate and Ray. We were supposed to find each other after, but that's a lot more easy said than done. I can barely see past all the swarms of people everywhere. I finally make out a blonde haired girl hugging someone, and I realize it's Kate. "Kate!" I scream her name, walking towards her at full speed. She whips her head around and her whole face lights up when she sees me. "Ana!" She pulls me in for a hug, nearly knocking me over. "We made it!" She kisses my cheek swiftly, then turns back to the male figure she was hugging. I recognize him as her brother, Ethan. "Annie!" My dads voice comes from behind me, making me turn instantly. "Dad!" I hug him while he congratulates me. "I'm so proud of you!" He says, making me smile even more than before. "Thanks, dad." Kate smiles at me too. "I'm also very proud of you, Ana." Kate wraps her arm around my waist and gives me a sexy smirk. She even goes as far as to wink at me. I blink, stunned. I can't believe she did that in front of my dad. My eyes go back in forth between her and my dad, trying to decide on what to do next, but before I can decide Kate runs off muttering something about a photograph. I turn to see what she's doing and find her shaking Christian Grey's hand again. She smiles at him and he pulls her in to get their picture taken together. "Looks like they're really hitting it off." My dad comments, making my earlier feelings of jealousy return. I've got to get away. I need a second to process this. "Yeah. Listen, dad, I'll be right back." I mumble. Without waiting for his reply, I make a quick dash around the corner, giving myself some space to think. I've never thought of myself as being a jealous person, but now it seems to be my most prominent emotion. I shake my head, clearing my thoughts. Is this the effect a relationship with Kate is having on me? Or is it just the uncertainty of it all? I can't tell. "Your hair looks nice." I glance in the direction of the voice and see that it's Ethan, Kate's Brother. "Kate did it." He nods. "I figured as much." He takes a deep breath, looking me up and down, seeming to be deep in thought. "Kate told me about you two." I think my heart actually stops for a second. "Uh....I." I stutter, trying to think of a reply. "I just thought you should know that she really likes you, so if you were worried about her and that guy over there, don't be." He smiles reassuringly at me and I sigh with relief. "Thanks, Ethan." He pulls me in for a big bear hug, then we walk back to Kate and the others together.

Authors Note; This whole chapter is cringey as hell. I apologize. I could've probably done a whole lot better. But at least it's something?
