Michael's point of view
"How does she put up with this?" I asked myself as Alexis', or my own now I guess, parents argued downstairs in the kitchen. Even after blasting the oldest Bring Me The Horizon album as loud as I could, I could still hear them at each other's throats.
I sighed and then felt my stomach rumble, making a sound that was practically inhumane. I didn't want to go out there to get anything, just so I don't have to witness them arguing or be dragged into it, but I knew that I had to eat. After all, I couldn't let her just starve. I'm trying to help her save herself, not kill herself.
I looked at the window, debating on leaving through it, but realizing that if I did, I'd probably fall and snap her neck since it's windy out. I wasn't going to risk it. I'm too clumsy.
Her phone rang somewhere in the room and I looked around for it, finding it under a stack of papers and books. I didn't even know she had one.
I looked at the contact and it read 'Babygirl', so I only assumed it was Nicole. I answered it and instead of being met with what I assume was her usual sweet voice, it was slurred and slightly upset.
"Where are you?"
I furrowed my eyebrows and dared at the phone, wondering if it was a usual occurance for her to do this. "I'm at home..." I told her and she told me to come over. "I can't."
"You can't? Why? You always come over."
"My parents uh need me at home." I came up with a shitty lie as I heard the arguing die down as a door slammed.
"Alexis... your parents never need you at home." She told me and I bit my bottom lip. "Come on, come by. I wanna see you."
"You saw me four hours ago." I told her and she laughed, low and teasing.
"That's not ahat I mean..."
Oh.
"I uh..."
Fuck, I was panicking, what am I supposed to do? I wasn't going to go over to her house, but I had a strong feeling if I didn't agree, she's drive by anyways. She just gives off that vibe.
"Come on, I'll pick you up." She begged and I knew it. I knew she was going to say that. "I'm not even that hammered."
"Don't drive."
"You always let me drive after a few shots." She said and I looked in the mirror. What the hell? She let's her girlfriend drive when she's drunk, or has had some drinks? No fucking way.
"I'm busy with school work." I told her and then made my way downstairs as I realized it'd been silent. I went to the kitchen and then opened the fridge, finding nothing but a half empty gallon of milk, bottles of beer, and a box of pizza.
I need a drink.
I took a few bottles from the full case and then opened the box, grabbing a few slices of the pepperoni pizza before slapping them down on a plate. I popped the bottles open as I kept the phone between my ear and shoulder, hearing Nicole beg and beg and beg for me to come over, for Alexis to come over.
That can't be healthy. This relationship can't be healthy if she needs her there every second of every day, and is willing to drive over after drinking.
"I'm busy?"
"Doing what? You don't even have friends, Lexis." She told me, her voice angered and upset instead of begging. "Who are you with?"
