It was going on night three without being with Raidyn and I figured it was time to actually talk. I head to the chambers and I knock lightly on the door waiting for his response.

"Go away. I'm not done working." Raidyn snaps.

"It's Byrd." I manage to choke out.

"Oh. Another time, Byrd. I'm almost done."

My heart falls to the pit of my chest and I walk away again and for the third night in a row I sleep alone. The next morning when I wake up I have a chambermaid bring all my meals to the spare bedroom I'm staying at and I don't bother with Raidyn today as I stay in bed feeling depressed. Riesner was in there and I wanted to see him, but another part of me was pulling away. I don't want to pull away.

I spend the night in the chamber and the next morning I gather up the courage to once again knock on Raidyn's door.

I'm surprised when this time Raidyn answers. "Yes?"

"It's me." I say in a near whisper.

"I see that."

"Can I come in?" I lean against the threshold.

He nods. "I have something to show you." He steps aside. Stained glass windows in replacement of where the old ones are.

"They're beautiful." I take a step in and look at them, I'm careful not to stand too close to them.

He scratches at the back of his neck. "Thanks. I've been working on them by myself for four days now."

"They're really beautiful, Raidyn." I turn to smile at him.

"Thanks again." He frowns.

"You're welcome." I pick at the skin on my hand.

"Okay....I'm going to get going now."

"Are you...okay?" I look at him closely.

"Fine." He sighs. "I'm fine."

I pick at my fingernails now and keep my head down. "It doesn't seem like it." I mumble.

"Well, I could say likewise, but I'm not."

"I never said I was fine." I frown.

"Would you like to discuss it?" Raidyn takes a seat at his table.

I didn't like how close it was to the window but I take a seat across from him anyways. "Okay. Let's talk about it."

He closes his eyelids and opens them. "You're crazy if you think I'm starting this."

"You broke the windows. There's nothing to say--I'm not the one who did it." I stare at him.

"I'm the one who did it, but I didn't do it to hurt you. I wouldn't do that. I was overcome. There's nothing more than that for me to say. I'm not explaining myself to you."

I jerk my head back. "I didn't ask your to explain yourself. If-If you don't like not being in control then why would you let me do that to you in first place?"

"Because I still was in control." He rolls his eyes.

"You weren't." I raise my voice. "You weren't in control!"

"Look at me." He snaps.

I can't bring myself to look at him as I keep my sight over my shoulder.

"Fine. Don't. I won't explain anything to you. I'm leaving." He stands and pushes his chair in.

I sigh. "Raidyn, stop." I grab onto his arm.

"I'm surprised you're even willing to touch me." He retorts.
